Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series AVPT Pencil Style Air Velocity Transmitter utilizes thermal anemometer technology to measure air velocity in clean air. The series is designed for use in VAV systems and building ducts, providing stable measurements in both imperial and metric units.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series AVPT operates within a process temperature range of -4 to 140 °F (-20 to 60 °C) with storage limits from -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C). Accuracy is model-specific, offered in two classes: Standard ±5% reading +40 FPM and High accuracy ±3% reading +40 FPM. The typical response time (90%) is 4 s.

Measurement ranges are selectable at the time of order:

• FPM options: 1000, 2000, 3000, or 4000 FPM
• Metric options: 5 m/s, 10 m/s, 15 m/s, or 20 m/s

The device requires a power supply of 24 VAC/VDC ±20% with current consumption less than 50 mA. The enclosure carries an NEMA 3 rating.

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple configuration options for output, connection, and probe geometry to accommodate specific installation requirements.

Output Signals

• Analog: 0-10 V (configurable to 0-5 V)
• BACnet MS/TP communication protocol with selectable baud rates of 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 76800, and 115200

Electrical Connections

• Cable whip: Plenum rated cable with 22 AWG conductors in lengths of 20" (0.5 m) or 78" (2 m)
• Connector: 5-pin M12 on a 24" (0.6 m) plenum rated cable

Probe Dimensions & Mounting

• Probe lengths available in 6" or 12"
• A mounting flange is included to allow variation of insertion depth
• Overall length: 10" (254 mm) for the 6" probe; 16" (406 mm) for the 12" probe

Certifications & Options

The series holds CE, RCM, BTL, and UL plenum rated (UL tested) approvals. Optional accessories include a factory calibration certificate (-FC), NIST traceable certificate (-NIST), replacement mounting flange (A-AVUL-MTG), quick fix cable gland for outside the duct installation (A-AVUL-QFG), and an external power supply (SCD-PS).
