Supported Applications
The OMEGA PCM5 Series is a pulse control module designed to convert a 4 to 20 mA signal from a process or temperature controller, or computer, into a time proportional output. The converter mounts directly onto the input terminals of a solid state relay (SSR) that accepts a 3 to 32 Vdc input. This configuration supports single phase 50 or 60 Hz operation for power control applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PCM5 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 40°C (32 to 104°F). The module accepts a minimal analog input signal of 4 to 20 mA, with permissible operation from 0 to 30 mA. It includes reverse polarity protection and exhibits no abnormal operation below 4 mA. A compliance voltage requirement of 6.4V is specified for the circuit.
Time base performance varies by duty cycle: approximately ~200 mS @ 50%, extending to ~500 mS towards 0 and 100% output levels.
Key Specifications
- Analog Input Signal: 4 to 20 mA minimal; 0 to 30 mA permissible
- Compliance Voltage Requirement: 6.4V
- Ambient Temperature: 0 to 40°C (32 to 104°F)
- Dimensions: 45 L x 51 W x 20 mm D (1.75 x 2.0 x 0.80")
Configuration Options
The series is offered as the PCM5 pulse control module. Electrical connections for the 4 to 20 mA input are provided via lever clamps on the converter itself. The unit mounts directly onto SSR input terminals, while the associated SSR power section provides connection points for line and load.
Configuration Details
- Output Signal: Time Proportional Output
- Power Supply Compatibility: 3 to 32 Vdc (input to SSR)
- Mechanical Interface: Direct mount on SSR input terminals with lever clamps for signal input
- Certifications: CE mark applies to appropriate devices upon certification
Key Product Differences
The PCM5 Series is identified by the model number PCM5, described as a pulse control module. The series documentation notes that the unit shown in reference images (e.g., mounted on an SSR330DC25 solid state relay) represents actual size; however, the SSR is sold separately and not included with the converter.

Does the PCM5 require voltage to power it up? If so how many amps? Where do you plug the input power in? What do the 2 pots do please? Can you adjust the time duration of the pulse to 1 second?
Thank you for your inquiry. 3 to 32 VDC at 4-20mA to power it. Please see manual for wiring diagram.

Are the pots for zero and span adjustments. Adjust the Zero so no output until input get to 40 % ie 10.4 ma' Span would be set at 20ma output so 40 to 100% input = 0 to 100% output
Hi Randy
Pots are set at factory so that a 4 mA you have no pulse output. At 20 mA you would have constant on cycle. At 12 mA you have 50% on time with a time base of 200 mS.
Best regards,
OMEGA
