Supported Applications

The Omega VTS Series consists of field-adjustable screw plug immersion heaters designed for clean water and oil applications. These units feature a 2½ NPT steel screw plug, Incoloy® sheath elements, an integral Type J thermocouple, and a general-purpose terminal enclosure.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The VTS Series supports process temperatures up to 148°C (300°F). Power supply options include 1 Phase: 120, 208, 240 and 480V; and 3 Phase: 208, 240 and 480V. The heaters utilize a field-adjustable configuration via simple connections to six elements.

Performance ratings vary by media type as defined in the application matrices:

  • Oil Applications: Power ranges from 0.50 kW to 10.00 kW with watt densities ranging from 2 W/In² to 80 W/In² depending on voltage and model selection.
  • Clean Water Applications: Power ranges from 0.50 kW to 40.00 kW with watt densities ranging from 2 W/In² to 80 W/In² depending on voltage and model selection.

Note: Shaded items in the application matrix are 3 phase only, and certain configurations marked with an asterisk have 100% spare capacity. The numbers 240 and 480 in the model number indicate max voltage rating; other voltages can be used per the application matrix.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions, electrical ratings, and physical attributes to accommodate specific installation requirements:

  • Housing & Enclosure: General purpose, NEMA 1 rated steel enclosure. The enclosure is 15 (6) cm (inch) in size with a width of 15 (6) cm (inch). It can be rotated 360° to match conduit connections.
  • Process Connection: 2½ NPT Steel Screw Plug.
  • Sheath Material: Incoloy® with a diameter of 1.2 cm (0.430").
  • Dimensions: Overall dimension B ranges from 51 (20⅜) to 77 (30⅜) cm (inch). Weight varies between 5.5 (12) and 7 (15) kg (lb).
  • Electrical Connection: Hole for 2 (0.75) Conduit.

Model numbers follow the format VTS-/, such as VTS-3240/240 or VTS-3180/480, where the voltage code reflects the maximum rating rather than a fixed operating point.
