Supported Applications

The Omega TJ36-44004 series comprises Transition Joint-Style Thermistor Probes designed for immersion applications. These probes feature a metal transition joint and are intended to measure temperature in liquid or gaseous media where the sensor element is inserted into the process.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The TJ36-44004 series operates within two primary maximum temperature limits depending on the selected thermistor option: 150°C (302°F) or 75°C (167°F). Accuracy is specified as ±0.2°C for standard options and ±0.1°C for high-tolerance selections, with tolerance ranges defined at 0 to 70°C or at 25°C depending on the specific thermistor model.

Standard configurations utilize a sheath constructed of 316 Stainless Steel. The probes are available in three standard diameters: 3 mm (⅛ in), 4.5 mm (⅜ in), and 6 mm (¼ in). Standard cable length is provided as 1 m (40").

Configuration Options

The series supports a wide range of configurations through model number customization, allowing engineers to select specific thermistor elements, sheath dimensions, and lead terminations.

  • Thermistor Selection: The series offers five resistance values at 25°C: 2252 Ω, 3000 Ω, 5000 Ω, 10000 Ω, and 30000 Ω. These are available in two tolerance classes (±0.1°C or ±0.2°C) corresponding to the maximum temperature ratings of 75°C (167°F) or 150°C (302°F).
  • Sheath Dimensions: Standard sheath lengths range from 2 to 12" (or 50 to 300 mm). Lengths longer than 12" (300 mm) are available by modifying the model number.
  • Cable and Termination: The standard cable is 26 AWG stranded, PFA insulated and jacketed. Standard termination consists of stripped leads. A phone plug option is available by adding "-PP" to the model number. Cable lengths exceeding 1 m (40") are configurable.
  • Model Numbering: The base format follows TJ36-44004-<SHEATH_DIAMETER>-<SHEATH_LENGTH>, with the thermistor number inserted into the model string to define resistance and tolerance characteristics (e.g., 44004, 44005).

Key Product Differences

Variants within the TJ36-44004 series are distinguished by their thermistor element selection, which dictates both resistance and maximum operating temperature. Models ending in digits such as 44004 through 44008 provide a maximum temperature of 150°C (302°F) with ±0.2°C tolerance. Conversely, models designated 44030 through 44033 offer higher precision at ±0.1°C but are limited to a maximum temperature of 75°C (167°F).

Physical variations include the choice between imperial and metric sheath dimensions in the model number string, as well as the inclusion or exclusion of the phone plug termination option.

Have the probes been UL certified?

Asked by: JimS
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, the TJ36-44004-1/812 is not UL certified. Omega does not sell any temperature sensor that is UL certified

May you give the accuracy after 75C till 100 for model TJ36-44033-1/8-6-PP

Asked by: nitha
Thank you for your inquiry! We cannot guarantee the accuracy outside of 0-70C. You should expect a lower accuracy outside of this temperature range (at least +/ - 0.2C).
