Supported Applications
The Omega TF Series consists of single-wire, fine gage thermocouple wire with extruded PFA insulation. Designed for applications requiring continuous lengths up to 300 m (1000'), the series is documented as excellent in vacuum environments and non-flammable.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The TF Series utilizes a thin-wall covering process that guarantees continuous wire availability. The insulation material is PFA, providing color-coded identification for each alloy type. While specific temperature ranges are not listed in the provided data sheet attributes, the series supports standard thermocouple alloys including Iron/Constantan (Type J), Copper/Constantan (Type T), CHROMEGA®/ALOMEGA® (Omega proprietary types), and others as defined by ANSI color codes.
Wire Dimensions
Nominal wire diameters range from 0.08 mm (0.003 inch) to 0.81 mm (0.032 inch). Available AWG sizes include:
- Solid: 40, 36, 30, 26, 24, and 20 AWG
- Stranded: 7x32 AWG (designated as 24S) and 7x28 AWG (designated as 20S)
Standard Spool Sizes
The series is offered in standard spools with the following lengths:
- 15 m (50')
- 30 m (100')
- 152.5 m (500')
- 305 m (1000')
Configuration Options
The TF Series is configurable across multiple alloy types, wire constructions, and lengths to meet specific thermocouple extension requirements.
Alloy Types & Color Codes
- TfIR: Iron/White (Type J positive)
- TFCI / TFCC: Constantan†/Red (Type T negative or Type J negative depending on pairing; matched to either iron, copper, or CHROMEGA®)
- TFCP: Copper/Blue (Type T positive)
- TFCH / TFCC: CHROMEGA®/Purple and Constantan†/Red
- TFCY: CHROMEGA®/Yellow
- TFAL: ALOMEGA®/Red
Note: When ordering matched pairs, the documentation specifies pairing TFCI with TFIR, TFCC with TFCP, or TFCP with TFCH.
Construction Options
- Solid: Single strand construction for AWG 40 through 20.
- Stranded: Multi-strand options available as 7x32 (24S) and 7x28 (20S).
Ordering Configuration
The model number format follows the pattern TF. Standard lengths to insert in feet are 50, 100, 500, or 1000. Examples include TFCY-003-100 for a 100' spool of yellow 0.003" Dia. CHROMEGA® wire and TFAL-20S-100 for a 100' spool of red 7x28 stranded ALOMEGA® PFA insulated wire.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series are distinguished by alloy composition, strand construction (solid vs. stranded), and AWG size. The documentation notes that Constantan is matched to either iron, copper, or CHROMEGA®, requiring specific pairing for thermocouple circuits. Pricing may be subject to change due to Nickel surcharges, Chromium fluctuations, and precious-metal market variations.

Easy to work with
We required the finest gauge thermocouple wire possible for our application and found that this gauge, with the insulation was a perfect balance between strength and small size. One gauge size lower and the wires were constantly breaking.

What is the accuracy of this thermocouple wire?
The accuracy of each type of wire pair is based on the ANSI MC 96.1 specification and can be found by doing an on line search or requesting a copy by contacting the Omega Temperature group.

What does the temperature range mean? Is it the temperature that the wire can measure or the temperature at which the wire will melt?
Thank you for your inquiry. The temperature range is what this wire can measure and if you use this wire to measure temperatures above 260 C, the wire will melt.
