Supported Applications
The Omega SA2C and SA2F series are flexible, self-adhesive silicone molded RTD surface sensors designed for temperature measurement on irregular or curved surfaces. The product overview identifies these as "Flexible Molded RTD Surface Sensors" that mount to any shape using an adhesive back.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within a documented temperature range of -50 to 200°C. Measurement is performed using a precision 100 Ω, Class "A" DIN Platinum element in a standard 4-wire configuration. The sensor body dimensions are specified with a maximum thickness of 6.4 mm (0.25") and an overall height of 2", while the width measures 0.63".
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable cable lengths, electrical connection types, and optional connectors to accommodate specific installation needs.
- Cable Construction: Standard cables are #26 AWG stranded nickel-plated copper, PFA insulated and jacketed. The standard length is 1 m (40").
- Electrical Connections: Stripped leads are the standard configuration; connector options are available.
- Connector Options: A TA3F audio connector can be added by appending "-TA3F" to the model number. Miniature connectors are available with the addition of "-MTP" to the model number.
- Cable Lengths: Standard lengths include 1 m (40") and 2 m (80"). Longer cable lengths can be configured by changing the length suffix in the model number, priced per foot for additional cost. Available variants listed include configurations up to 3 m (120"), as well as metric designations such as "-1M", "-3M", and "-5M".
Key Product Differences
The series is divided into two primary model families: SA2C and SA2F. Both utilize the same 100 Ω, Class "A" DIN Platinum element and share identical dimensional specifications for the sensor body (height of 2", width of 0.63"). The documented distinction between these models in the provided data is limited to their model number prefixes; both are described as flexible sensors with adhesive backs.
Model numbers follow the format SA2C-RTD-3-100-A-<LENGTH> or SA2F-RTD-3-100-A-<LENGTH>, where <LENGTH> denotes the cable length in inches (e.g., 40, 80, 120) or meters. For example, SA2C-RTD-3-100-A-40 represents a 1 m (40") configuration.

Great little sensor.
We use these a lot to monitor surface temperatures. We like the quality and will continue to buy them.

Are these sensors reusable, or is the adhesive one-time use?
These sensors are not reusable. The reusability of the adhesive depends on the application. If the surface was clean and the adhesive pad was removed carefully enough, then there is a possibility to reuse the adhesive.

Hi Whats the accuracy of the sensor? Precision PT100 Class "B" or +-0,15C
Product is Class A as defined by the DIN or IEC 60751 calibration standard. +/- 0.15°C at 0°C.

What is the response time on 60 degree C plate?
Thank you for your inquiry seraph3. Unfortunately, we do not have specific information about the response time of a probe as the environment will affect the response time directly. A time constant has been defined as the time required by a sensor to reach 63.2% of a step change in temperature under a specified set of conditions. Five time constants are required for the sensor to approach 100% of the step change value. An exposed junction thermocouple offers the fastest response. Also, the smaller the probe sheath diameter, the faster the response, but the maximum temperature may be lower. For more information, please review the following link: https://www.omega.co.uk/temperature/Z/ThermocoupleResponseTime.html

How does the SA2C compare to the SAPC models? For instance, SA2C-RTD-3-100-A-40 and SAPC-RTD-4-100-A-40 look to be identical.
The SAPC is a Class A element and the SA2C is Class B so a little less accurate. Physically pretty much identical and can be used interchangeably other then the Class of element.

I'd like to know the weight of the sensor: SA2C-RTD-3-100-A-1M
Thank you for your inquiry. We don't have this information readily available. Due to this being a more complicated issue please send an email to temp@omega.com for further assistance.

I want to use this sensor for running experiments on different surfaces at 300 Fdeg sunk in hot water. Can I do that with this sensor? how many times I can use this sensor (I plan to test 4 different surfaces).
Unfortunately these probes are not for being immersed as are all other surface attached probes. The TFPS-TC series may be an option so check out it on www.omega.com.
