Supported Applications

The Omega RD1000, RD2000, and RD3000 Series are color TFT touch screen paperless recorders designed for monitoring and recording process variables. These digital data acquisition devices store historical data on internal flash memory or external storage media without the use of paper charts. The series supports real-time monitoring via Windows® graphical software and includes a built-in web server to view recorder trends and digital data remotely over an Internet connection with a fixed IP address.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The RD1000/RD2000 Series measures process variables across multiple input types, including Thermocouple (J, K, T, E, B, R, S, N, L, U, P, W5, W3, LR), RTD (Pt50, Pt100, Pt200, Pt500, Pt1000, Pt150, JPT series, Cu series, Ni series), Current (±26 mA), and Voltage ranges from ±60 mV to ±50.6 V. Measurement accuracy varies by input type: ±1°C for certain thermocouples; ±2°C for 200 to 1820°C ranges; ±0.4°C, ±0.05%, or other values depending on the specific sensor and range selected.

Response time is within 1 second for thermocouple, RTD, and mV inputs, and 0.1 second for 4 to 20 mA and 1 to 5 V inputs. The units feature a 24-bit resolution and operate in ambient temperatures from 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F). Storage temperature ranges from -30 to 70°C (-22 to 158°F). Humidity tolerance is rated at 20 to 90% RH non-condensing, with a maximum of 90% RH up to 38°C (100°F), decreasing linearly to 50% RH at 50°C (122°F).

Enclosure protection is rated IP65 (NEMA 4X) water-resistant. Mechanical ratings include a shock rating of 30 m/s² (3g) for operation and 20 g for transportation, with vibration resistance from 10 to 55 Hz at 10 m/s² for 2 hours.

Configuration Options

The series offers expandable input and output capabilities via plug-and-play I/O cards. Configurable options include:

  • Display Sizes: Models feature 4.3", 5.6", or 12.1" color TFT touch screens.
  • I/O Expansion: Supports up to 48 analog inputs and 96 optional external channels using cards such as RD1000-3AI, RD1000-6AI, RD1000-6R, RD1000-6DI, RD1000-3R-3DI, and RD1000-6AO.
  • Memory & Storage: Includes 256 MB internal flash memory, an on-board SD card slot for internal storage, and USB host ports to download data or connect a printer. External storage is available via the USB slot.
  • Communications: Standard Ethernet (IEEE 802.3 - 10/100 Base T) with optional RS232/422/485 serial communications modules.
  • Power Supply: Operates on 90 to 250 Vac, 47 to 63 Hz (52 VA; 26 W max), or optionally 11 to 36 Vdc (26 VA; 26 W max).
  • Firmware Options: Available suffixes include -FW1 (extra math, external channels, batch, FDA 21 CFR Part 11); -FW2 (custom edited display and Panel Studio editing software); and -FW3 (includes all items in Plus versions 1 and 2).
  • Mounting Options: Suffixes include -1 for panel mount without power cord; -2 through -6 for portable configurations with various regional power cords (standard, VDE, SAA, BS, GB) and switches.

Key Product Differences

The series is divided into three model families distinguished by physical dimensions and channel capacity. The RD1000/RD2000 Series measures 144 H x 144 W x 189 mm D (5.67 x 5.67 x 7.44"). The larger RD3000 Series measures 288 H x 288 W x 189 mm D (11.34 x 11.34 x 7.44").

Model numbers follow the format: RD1000/RD2000/RD3000 - <Firmware Option> - <Mounting Option>. For example, RD2000-FW1-2 indicates an RD2000 unit with Plus version 1 firmware and a portable mounting option. Output signals are configurable to include 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA, 0 to 5 V, 1 to 5 V, or 0 to 10 Vdc.

Our RD2000 keeps shutting down, and stops recording, leaving gaps in the data, how do I get it to stay powered up for the whole month, and continuously record data without gaps??? Thanks
