Supported Applications

The Omega OM-CP-HITEMP140-FP Series is a high-temperature data logger featuring a long, flexible RTD probe with a narrow diameter. The series is designed for mapping, validation, and monitoring of high-temperature surfaces and environments. Documented applications include steam sterilization and lyophilization processes.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The data logger records up to 32,767 time-stamped readings using non-volatile solid-state memory with a resolution of 0.01°C (0.02°F). The probe measurement range is -60 to 260°C (-76 to 500°F), while the operating temperature range for the device body is -40 to 140°C (-40 to 284°F).

When equipped with an optional thermal shield, the operating environment extends from -200 to 250°C (-328 to 482°F). This extended range is time-limited; exposure duration depends on ambient temperature and whether the sensor is in air or liquid. For example, at 150°C (302°F), maximum exposure times are listed as 59 minutes for vented shields in air versus 66 minutes for flush top shields in air.

Response time specifications vary by medium:

  • In Air: t60 is 30 seconds; t90 is 70 seconds.
  • In Water: t60 is 3.5 seconds; t90 is 6.5 seconds.

The device maintains an accuracy of ±0.1°C (±0.18°F) and features a PFA coated flexible probe with wetted materials consisting of PFA insulated cable. The enclosure rating is IP68, and the housing material for the thermal shield options includes 316 SS components.

Configuration Options

The series supports configuration across multiple dimensions including probe length, thermal shielding type, and certification levels. Model numbers follow the format OM-CP-HITEMP140-FP - <PROBE LENGTH> - <THERMAL SHIELD> - <CERTIFICATION>. Available configurations include:

  • Probe Lengths: 91.4 cm (36") or 183 cm (72").
  • Thermal Shields: Vented thermal shield (OM-CP-HITEMP140-FP-TSK) and flush top thermal shield (OM-CP-HITEMP140-FP-TSK-FL). The vented enclosure measures 109 x 51 mm dia. (4.3 x 2.0") with a weight of 270 g (9.5 oz), while the flush top enclosure is 70 x 51 mm dia. (2.75 x 2.0") weighing 190 g (6.7 oz).
  • Certifications: Optional NIST calibration certificate and optional 5 YEAR WARRANTY.

Data retrieval requires the OM-CP-IFC400 USB docking station or the OM-CP-IFC406 multiplexer interface. The device is powered by a user-replaceable 3.6V high-temperature lithium battery (OM-CP-BAT110). Additional accessories include the OM-CP-MULTIMOUNT-Z mount/stand and the OM-CP-SVP-SYSTEM software validation package.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series are distinguished by probe length, thermal shield configuration, and inclusion of certification documents. The base models (e.g., OM-CP-HITEMP140-FP-36) feature a flexible probe without an external thermal shield enclosure. Models with "TSK" in the part number include a vented PTFE enclosure to extend operating limits up to 250°C (482°F). The "FL" suffix denotes a flush top thermal shield configuration, which offers different exposure time tolerances compared to the vented version at elevated temperatures. Does the temperature reading come from the tip of the flex wire? Is the entire probe flexible or is the last part rigid(non flexible)? If rigid what length is the rigid portion?

Is the PFA flexible probe replaceable if damaged?

Hello, thank you for your question. The probe in this case is not replaceable. We do have a similar model were you can use a removable M12 RTD probe, the part number is OM-CP-HITEMP140-M12.
