Supported Applications

The Omega NSA Series consists of rugged, reliable strip heaters designed for high-temperature surface heating. These units feature a seamless construction and a slim profile intended for space-restricted applications where clamping to an external surface is required. The series overview identifies ideal use cases including the heating of large tanks, vats, and ducts.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The NSA Series utilizes Incoloy as the sheath material with a maximum sheath temperature rating of 815°C (1500°F). Power is supplied via copper leads with insulation at either 120 or 240 Vac. The series offers power outputs ranging from 125 to 400 Watts across its model lineup.

Allowable watt density varies based on the operating temperature of the sheath and ambient conditions, as defined by the relationship: Ambient Temperature = (Sheath Temp + Material Temp) ÷ 2. Specific allowable densities include:

  • 10 W/in² at a Sheath Temp of 800°F
  • 15 W/in² at a Sheath Temp of 1000°F
  • 20 W/in² at a Sheath Temp of 1200°F
  • 30 W/in² at a Sheath Temp of 1400°F

The series carries UL approval, indicated by the SF logo.

Configuration Options

The NSA Series is configured as a clamped-on design with specific dimensional parameters. The element width is fixed at 1/2" (1.3) ± 1/32" (0.08), and the thickness is 3/16" (0.5). Total length includes a tolerance of A ± 1/8" (0.3).

Available models cover distinct heated lengths, overall dimensions, wattage ratings, and voltage requirements:

  • NSA-711: Heated Length 7 1/8" (18), Total Length A 5 1/8" (13), Flattened Length C 3 1/8" (8); 125 Watts at 120 Vac.
  • NSA-1013: Heated Length 10 1/8" (27), Total Length A 6 1/8" (17), Flattened Length C 8 1/8" (21); 300 Watts at 120 Vac.
  • NSA-1123: Heated Length 11 1/8" (28), Total Length A 7 1/8" (18), Flattened Length C 9 1/8" (24); 350 Watts at 240 Vac.
  • NSA-1422: Heated Length 13 1/8" (35), Total Length A 9 1/8" (24), Flattened Length C 12" (30); 200 Watts at 240 Vac.
  • NSA-1412: Heated Length 14 1/8" (36), Total Length A 10 1/8" (26), Flattened Length C 12 1/8" (32); 200 Watts at 120 Vac.
  • NSA-1624: Heated Length 16 1/8" (41), Total Length A 12 1/8" (31), Flattened Length C 14 1/8" (37); 400 Watts at 240 Vac.

Weights for these models range from 0.20 lb (0.09 kg) to 0.56 lb (0.25 kg).

Key Product Differences

Variation within the NSA Series is defined by model number, which corresponds directly to specific heated lengths and power ratings. The series offers configurations for both 120 Vac and 240 Vac supply voltages. Model numbers follow the format NSA-<Heated Length Code>, such as NSA-711 or NSA-1624.

While all units share the same Incoloy sheath material, element width of 1/2" (1.3), and thickness of 3/16" (0.5), they differ in total length, flattened length, wattage output, and voltage compatibility as detailed in the variant capabilities above.
