Supported Applications
The Omega LCS series consists of reversible liquid crystal polyester film and plastic sheets designed for the visual display of temperature. These adhesive-backed indicators provide a quick readout suitable for laboratory, testing, and evaluation applications where rapid thermal monitoring is required.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LCS series utilizes a non-toxic mixture of liquid crystal esters to indicate temperature changes with an accuracy of ±1°C. The film features a fast response time, allowing the user to read the temperature once color stabilization occurs. Storage conditions require maintaining 21°C (70°F) and 50% relative humidity.
Temperature indication is conveyed through specific color states:
- BROWN: Just above rating
- GREEN: At rated temperature
- BLUE: Just below rating
- BLACK: Otherwise
If no green is present, the reading falls between the blue and tan colored boxes. The series covers six specific measurement ranges: 20 to 25°C (68 to 77°F), 25 to 30°C (77 to 86°F), 30 to 35°C (86 to 95°F), 35 to 36°C (95 to 97°F), 35 to 40°C (95 to 104°F), and 40 to 45°C (104 to 113°F).
Configuration Options
The series is constructed with a polyester 5 mil stock covering film and double-coated adhesive tape. Sheets are approximately 0.25 mm (0.01") thick and can be cut to any size for custom applications.
Configuration options include:
- Sizes: Individual sheets measuring 31 x 31 cm (12 x 12"); kits containing six sheets of 15 x 31 cm (6 x 12") each.
- Adhesive Options: Models with adhesive backing and models without adhesive, indicated by the "-WOAB" suffix in part numbers.
- Kits: A sample pack is available containing one sheet from each of the six temperature ranges listed above (Model LCS-KIT).
Application requires applying the label to a clean, dry surface. The model number guide follows the format LCS-, with suffixes for kits or non-adhesive variants.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the LCS series are distinguished by their specific temperature range and physical configuration. Each of the six temperature ranges is available as an individual 31 x 31 cm (12 x 12") sheet, a kit of six smaller sheets, or without adhesive backing.
- LCS-77: Covers 20 to 25°C (68 to 77°F)
- LCS-86: Covers 25 to 30°C (77 to 86°F)
- LCS-95: Covers 30 to 35°C (86 to 95°F)
- LCS-97: Covers 35 to 36°C (95 to 97°F)
- LCS-104: Covers 35 to 40°C (95 to 104°F)
- LCS-113: Covers 40 to 45°C (104 to 113°F)
Model numbers ending in "-KIT" denote the six-sheet kit configuration, while those ending in "-WOAB" indicate sheets without adhesive backing.

Thermochromic LC
It´s a good product to illustrate how thermochromic liquid cristals can display different colours according to temperature. I use it for interactive teaching.

Perfect for hidden heating underfloor.
Bought this for a project to repair tile on my heated floor. Saw this as an option and a way to see the wires running under the floor. The other option was a FLIR camera. For the price I paid, a lot cheaper than the FLIR, this was the way to go. It showed my wires perfectly and I was able to mark them off and conduct my repair withought the risk of damaging my under floor heating. Great product and worth the price.

Good stuff
This stuff is super helpful for PCB repair and testing. You can find hot ICs really fast. It's also helpful for ESD testing circuits. Put this on the ICs and zap away, if it changes color you know you've got a problem.

We use your LCS-113 film. It leaves some adhesive behind. We may not be getting it all off. It then sees 400 deg C for 24 hours and then remains in a vacuum. Will the adhesive survive 400C? If so will it outgas in a vacuum afterwards?
Thank you for your inquiry. The maximum temperature for the adhesive is 150°C. We do not have any outgassing data.
