Supported Applications

The Omega LC8250 Series consists of compact, low-profile, all stainless steel donut load cells designed for through-hole applications. These compression load cells are suitable for measuring compressive forces in clamping and bolt loading scenarios.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -54 to 121°C (-65 to 250°F). Electrical performance is defined by a nominal output signal of 2 mV/V and requires an excitation voltage of 10 Vdc (15V maximum). The load cells feature an accuracy class of ±0.5% FSO and repeatability of ±0.1% FSO.

Physical dimensions are fixed across the series with a height of 25 mm (1.0") and an outer diameter of 64 mm (2.50"). The units include a 1.5 m (5') 4-conductor shielded cable for electrical connection.

Measurement Ranges

The LC8250 series supports the following compression capacities:

  • 0-1,000 lb to 0-75,000 lb (increments of 1K through 7.5K)
  • 0-100,000 lb
  • Metric equivalents range from 455 kgf to 45,372 kgf as listed in the specification tables.

Configuration Options

The series is configurable by inside diameter (ID) and capacity. The model number format follows LC8250-[ID CODE]-[CAPACITY]K, where the ID code corresponds to specific hole sizes ranging from 0.250" to 1.50".

Inside Diameter Options

The following inside diameters are available depending on capacity selection:

  • 0.250", 0.375", 0.500", 0.625", 0.750" (ID Codes: 250, 375, 500, 625, 750)
  • 0.875", 0.938", 1.00", 1.13", 1.25" (ID Codes: 875, 938, 1.00, 1.13, 1.25)
  • 1.38", 1.50" (ID Codes: 1.38, 1.50)

Cable and Wiring

The standard electrical connection is a 4-conductor shielded cable with the following wire color code:

  • Green (GN): +Output
  • White (WT): -Output
  • Black (BK): -Input
  • Red (RD): +Input

Certifications and Calibration

The load cells are supplied with a 5-point NIST-traceable calibration. The series holds RoHS compliance.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the LC8250 family differ primarily by their inside diameter and rated capacity, allowing integration into existing through-hole structures of varying sizes. For capacities greater than 50,000 lb, top and bottom loading surfaces are located through the center hub.

While standard configurations use inch-based ID codes, metric configurations are available upon consultation with engineering. Compatible meters for these load cells include models DP41-S, DP25B-S, and DPIS.

Does it work with DP41-E? and what is the Pin out for the 4 conductor? if there is a manual to show the pin outs for the load cell.

Asked by: Yaredt
It's not the best match for use with a load cell but the DP41-E will work. You will need to configure it for a 0 to 100 mV input range and set the internal sensor excitation voltage for 10VDC. Wiring of the load cell to the display is as follows. + Excitation to P9-1, + Signal to P9-2, - Signal to P9-3, - Excitation to P3-1. Do not jumper terminal P3-1 to P3-3. There is a full manual for DP41-E available for download on our website. You can access through the Manuals menu at the bottom of our homepage

Is there any vertical displacement under load and if so do you have charts ploting vertical displacement as a function of load?

Asked by: LouisV
Nominal full scale deflection of the load cell when full load is applied is 0.005". We do not have data indicating deflection as a function of load.

What is the wash down rating?

Asked by: Sdeck
Hello, the LC8250 has a IP55 rating, it is not good for washdown applications since it is not watertight.
