Supported Applications

The Omega KKVM Series consists of NEMA Type 4X rated, fused manual disconnect switches designed for general purpose electrical disconnects or as across-the-line manual motor controllers. These polycarbonate enclosed units are suitable for indoor or outdoor use and offer resistance to many chemicals and UV exposure.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is rated for 30A at 600 VAC in a 3-pole configuration with a short circuit withstand rating of 10 kA @ 600V when used with the maximum fuse. The operating temperature range is -20 to 40°C (-4 to 104°F), while the enclosure temperature rating extends from -35 to 130°C (-31 to 266°F). Electrical connections support terminal sizes of 14-8 AWG for copper conductors only at a maximum of 75°C, with a specified torque of 16 lb. in.

Configuration Options

The KKVM Series is available in configurations supporting different fuse types and handle colors to meet specific identification or safety requirements.

  • Fuse Compatibility: Models are configured for either 10 x 38 midget fuses (K5, RK5) or Class CC fuses (RK1, J).
  • Handle Options: Lockable handles are offered in black or yellow/red color combinations.
  • Housing & Materials: The enclosure is constructed from polycarbonate with a switch body made of Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) polyester resin. Contacts utilize copper with silver alloy plating.
  • Enclosure Features: Units feature NEMA Type 4X and IP65 ratings, with knock-outs on the top and bottom including M25/32 (two locations) and M16 (one location).

Auxiliary contacts are available as an option. Fuses must be purchased separately.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes variants primarily by fuse class compatibility and handle color coding:

  • Midget Fuse Models (AU-KKVM332, AU-KKVM332-YR): Designed for 10 x 38 midget fuses. The standard model features a black lockable handle; the -YR suffix indicates a yellow/red lockable handle.
  • Class CC Fuse Models (AU-KKVM332CC, AU-KKVM332CC-YR): Designed for Class CC fuses. The standard model features a black lockable handle; the -YR suffix indicates a yellow/red lockable handle.
  • Auxiliary Switch: Model AU-KU1V is available as an accessory, providing 1 N.O./1 N.C., rated at 10A for 125 to 250 Vac.
