Supported Applications
The Omega HTWAT Series consists of silicone rubber heating tapes with built-in adjustable thermostat control. These flexible heaters are designed for process temperature control, freeze protection, and supplemental heat applications.
Documented use cases include wrapping around valves, pipe lines, bearings, filter housings, actuators, and similar objects to maintain a set temperature via the integral controller.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The HTWAT series features an adjustable thermostat range of 10 to 218°C (50 to 425°F). The maximum exposure temperature for the heater is rated at 232°C (450°F).
- Power Density: Nominal watt density is specified as 6.0 Watts/in² (0.009 Watts/mm²).
- Bend Radius: The minimum bend radius is 12.7 mm (0.5").
- Suitability: Suitable for use on electrically conductive surfaces.
- Resistance Properties: Models are described as moisture and chemical resistant.
Voltage & Power Supply
The series operates on 120 or 240 Vac. Electrical connections differ by voltage model: 120V models include a power cord with plug, while 240V models are supplied without plugs and feature stripped lead ends requiring termination.
Configuration Options
The HTWAT series is configurable across multiple dimensions including width, length, voltage, and total wattage. The flexible tape construction utilizes an extruded silicone rubber outer sheath with fiberglass knitted and braided internal components.
Sizing Options (Width x Length)
- 0.5" Width: Available in lengths from 2' to 10'. Power ranges from 72 W to 360 W for 120V models.
- 1.0" Width: Available in lengths from 2' to 10'. Power ranges from 144 W to 720 W for 120V models.
- 2.0" Width: Available in lengths from 2' to 10'. Power ranges from 288 W to 1,440 W for 120V models.
- 3.0" Width: Available in lengths from 2' to 10'. Power ranges from 432 W to 1,440 W (or up to 1,800 W on specific 240V configurations) for 120V models.
Model Numbering Structure
The series follows a model number guide format of HTWAT-, where the segments denote width, voltage type (1 for 120VAC, 2 for 240VAC), and length. For example, HTWAT051-002 represents a heating tape with specific dimensional and electrical parameters.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the HTWAT series are distinguished primarily by physical dimensions (width in inches/mm) and total length, which directly determine the wattage output. The primary functional variation is between 120VAC models equipped with a NEMA plug on a 1.8 m (6') cord and 240VAC models supplied without plugs.
Specific power outputs vary by size; for instance, the largest available configuration in the series reaches up to 1,440 W or 1,800 W depending on voltage selection. The integral thermostat is standard across all variants, providing temperature maintenance within the specified range of 50-425°F (10-218°C).

Excellent, hot, long lasting heat tape!
We've been using this heat tape on machinery in our shop for 4 or so years. It runs at 400 degrees (highest setting) all day; the adjustable heat dial is great. It's very hard to find a quality, flexible, wipeable, HOT, heat tape in varying lengths (trust me I've searched high and low before I found Omega). We do need to replace it after 2-3 years simply because the tape cracks due to heavy use, but it still heats great even then. I would imagine if the tape was used in a more traditional placement it wouldn't crack at all (ours is looped tightly in and around tight small fittings). It's very easy to use, the "cool" tab at one end of the tape comes in handy for positioning when hot (if needed). Will be using these unit for many years to come. Omega has always had great customer service all these years as well. Thank you!

Heat tape failure
I bought 3 heat tapes to heat some valves to allow our product to stay warm. The adjustment of the tape is so course it is either too cold or scorching hot and burns our product. We were forced to remove them from our system.

Works as described
The product works as described and we are not disappointed. We find it actually runs a little hotter than the maximum temperature listed. Overall very easy process with Omega as always.

Will this unit draw current when the ambient temp. is above freezing, and no protection is required?
Thank you for your inquiry Roger45. No matter what you set the thermostat to (10 to 218°C (50 to 425°F)), the heater will always draw current to maintain the set temperature.

Does this product require any controller to control the voltage or would it be safe to plug into a typical outlet? What does this product require that is not shown here? Thanks
The HTWAT series heating tape with built-in thermostat can be plugged into a standard 120 volt outlet directly. A separate controller is not needed as this heater includes an adjustable thermostat to control the temperature.
