Supported Applications

The Omega HGL046 series consists of vertical compact enclosure fan heaters designed for electrical and electronic enclosures, display panels, access and parking control systems, and personnel booths. These units maintain minimum operating temperatures to help prevent failure of electronic components caused by condensation and corrosion.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HGL046 series operates on 110 to 120 Vac at 50/60 Hz. Ambient and storage temperature ranges are specified as -45 to 70°C (-49 to 158°F). The heating element is constructed of Micanite, housed within an extruded aluminum profile heat sink that is silver anodized.

Performance specifications include a maximum surface temperature of 75°C (167°F) for the 400 W heater. Air exit temperature measures approximately 45°C (113°F) at 50 mm (2") above the heater unit. Free blowing air flow is rated at 26 cfm (45 m³/h) at 50 Hz and 32 cfm (54 m³/h) at 60 Hz.

The series features a built-in temperature limiter for overheat protection. The axial fan utilizes ball bearings with a life rating of 50,000 h at 25°C (77°F). Protection class is I (grounded), and the enclosure rating is NEMA 2 (IP20).

Selection Notes

  • Outdoor Applications: For outdoor applications, it is recommended to double the heating power.
  • Wiring Example: The series supports control contact integration with thermostats such as KT011.

Configuration Options

The HGL046 series is offered in two wattage configurations, each with distinct physical dimensions and weights. Both models feature internal termination for AWG 16 max [1.5 mm² (0.06 in²)] wiring with strain relief.

  • HGL41900: Fan heater, 400 W, 120 Vac; Length: 222 mm (8.7"); Weight: 1.4 kg (3.1 lb).
