The Omega ARMTO-3 Series consists of lightweight oil immersion heaters featuring an integral thermostat. Designed specifically for lightweight oils, these units utilize a steel sheath and lower watt density to match the thermal properties of this media.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series provides three distinct temperature ranges via built-in thermostats:
- T-1 Temp.Range: 0-180°F
- T-2 Temp.Range: 60-250°F
- T-3 Temp.Range: 200-550°F
Power supply options include 208, 240, or 480 V, available in both single-phase and three-phase configurations. The heaters feature a process connection of 2½" NPT Screw Plug. Watt densities range from 23 to 26 W/in² depending on the specific kW rating selected.
Configuration Options
The ARMTO-3 Series is configurable across power ratings, voltage phases, temperature ranges, and enclosure types. Key selection parameters include:
- Power Ratings (kW): 3, 3.75, 4.5, 6, 7.5, and 9 kW.
- Voltage & Phase: 208 V, 240 V, or 480 V; single-phase (1) or three-phase (add suffix "3P" to model number).
- Enclosure Types:
The series offers two primary enclosure constructions with distinct certification profiles:
- General Purpose Enclosure: UL Listed with T1 or T2 Temps; CSA Certified with T1, T2, or T3 Temps.
- E2 Moisture Resistant/Explosion Resistant Enclosure: Designed to provide explosion resisting containment of electrical wiring according to the National Electric Code. These units are CSA NRTL/C Certified with T1, T2, or T3 Temps.
Note: The E2 construction is not intended for use in hazardous areas; abnormal application resulting in excessive temperatures can create hazardous conditions leading to fire.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series are distinguished by their enclosure type, temperature range suffixes, and physical dimensions. General purpose models utilize a standard housing with overall dimension B ranging from 44 cm (17½") for lower kW ratings to 120 cm (47½") for higher power units.
E2 Enclosure variants feature increased protection against moisture and explosion risks, resulting in larger physical dimensions. For example, the E2 housing for a 3 kW unit has dimension B of 44 cm (17½"), while the General Purpose version shares this length but differs in internal construction and certification.
Model numbers follow the format ARMTO-3 - <kW> - <Volts> - <W/in²> - <No. Htg. Elem.> - <Dim B cm (in)> - <Temp Range> - <Enclosure Type>. Temperature ranges are indicated by suffixes T1, T2, or the absence of a suffix for T-3 in certain configurations.
