Supported Applications

The Dwyer Model A-700 series is an economical, open-frame power supply designed to power all Dwyer pressure, temperature, or air velocity transmitters. The compact size facilitates enclosure installation in automation and control systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series A-700 accepts a wide AC input range of 100/120/220/230-240 VAC ±10% at 47-63 Hz. It provides a regulated DC output of 24-28 VDC. Performance specifications include line regulation of ±0.05% for ±10% line change, load regulation of ±0.05% for 50% load change, and thermal regulation of ±0.02%/°C maximum (±0.005%/°C typical). Output ripple is limited to 2 mV RMS maximum or 3 mV peak-to-peak, with a dynamic response time of 30 microseconds for a 50% load change.

Operating ambient temperature ranges from 32-122°F (0-50°C). Storage temperature is rated -40 to 185°F (-40 to 85°C).

Configuration Options

The series offers three current output configurations, with maximum ratings dependent on the specific model and line frequency. Output current must be derated by 10% for 50 Hz operation.

  • A-700: Rated at 0.5 A @ 60 Hz (derates to lower output at 50 Hz).
  • A-700-2: Rated at 2 A @ 60 Hz.
  • A-700-4: Rated at 4.8 A @ 60 Hz.

The unit features an open-frame design with input/output solder terminals for direct connection. Auxiliary inputs are selectable via jumpers to accommodate worldwide power sources; the unit is factory wired for 117 volts and requires jumper adjustment before operation at other line voltages. External fusing is required but not included: a 0.5 Amp fuse for 100-120 VAC input or a 0.25 Amp fuse for 220-240 VAC input.

Approvals include UL and CSA certification (per instruction manual).

Key Product Differences

Variants differ primarily by maximum current output capability, which dictates the physical dimensions of the unit. The A-700 model measures 4"H x 3-3/8"W x 1-5/8"D (approximate based on dimension labels). Higher current models increase in height and width to accommodate internal components; for example, the A-700-2 is approximately 4-7/8"H x 4-1/8"W. The chassis generates heat during normal operation due to the regulator, requiring an unrestricted mounting area or moving air in confined spaces.
