Supported Applications

The Omega SP-005 Series is a modular, smart sensing device designed for integration into the Omega Link Ecosystem. It functions as a Thermocouple and RTD Temperature Smart Probe supporting up to two thermocouple inputs or one RTD input (configured for 2, 3, or 4-wire connections). The probe features configurable digital I/O pins and is intended for deployment in wired or wireless configurations using Omega Link Smart Interfaces and Gateways. It supports data logging of over 10,000 samples/events and includes integrated alarm and control functions with secure authentication.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SP-005 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F) and carries CE and UKCA approvals. When mated, the unit achieves an IP67 rating. Measurement capabilities vary by sensor type:

• Thermocouples: Supports Types J, K, T, E, N, R, S, B, and C with measurement ranges spanning from -210°C to 2320°C depending on the specific type. Accuracy values range from 0.4°C for most base types (J, K, T, E, N, C) to 0.5°C for high-temperature noble metal types (R, S, B).
• RTDs: Supports Pt100 and Pt1000 elements with ranges from -200°C to 850°C or 660°C depending on the wire configuration. Accuracy is specified as 0.3°C for 4-wire and 3-wire configurations, and 0.6°C for 2-wire configurations.

Power requirements are 2.8 VDC to 3.3 VDC. The unit provides two configurable Discrete I/O pins (Digital Input or Output) with a maximum output current of 100 mA Open Drain and voltage limits up to 30 VDC.

Configuration Options

The series utilizes a modular M12 construction. The probe itself uses an M12 4-pin connector for thermocouple and RTD signals, while the Omega Link Smart Interfaces utilize an M12 8-pin connector to access power, I/O, and communication lines.

Smart Interface Options

The series supports various interface modules to enable wired or wireless connectivity:

• Wired Interfaces: IF-001 (USB) and IF-002 (RS485/Modbus).
• Wireless Sub GHz Interfaces: IF-006-1-NA (-915 MHz) and IF-006-1-EU (-868 MHz), which must be paired with an Omega Link wireless gateway.

Gateway Compatibility

The system integrates with multiple IIoT Gateways including:

• Standard Wired/Wireless: GW-001-0 (Wired), GW-001-2-NA/EU (Wireless Sub GHz).
• Pro Series: GW-001-3-NA/EU (Wireless Pro with PoE and USB ports) and GW-002-1-LTE (LTE Wireless Pro).

Sensor End Configurations

The probe is compatible with a range of M12 sensor probes, including:

• Thermocouple Probes: M12 Series and M12M Series (J/K Type) in single or dual element configurations.
• RTD Probes: PR-21A Series (6"), PR-22 Series, and PR-23 Series Multi-Length probes supporting Pt100/Pt1000 elements.

Cabling options include shielded T-Splitters (M12.8-T-SPLIT) for I/O access, field install connectors with screw terminals, and dual M12-8 connector extension cables in 1m, 3m, or 5m lengths.
