Supported Applications
The Omega OMEGALABEL® Series 21 consists of self-adhesive temperature monitors designed to provide a permanent record of surface temperatures. Each label features a heat-sensitive indicator sealed under a transparent, heat-resistant window that changes color when the rated temperature is reached. The non-reversible color change provides a visual history indicating whether a specific thermal threshold has been exceeded on any clean, dry surface.
These labels are engineered for applications requiring verification of peak temperatures or overheating events. Once activated, an OMEGALABEL® can be removed from the monitored equipment and attached to an inspection report as permanent documentation of the temperature event.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series 21 operates on a single-point measurement principle per label. The indicator circle transitions to light gray or black at the specific temperature rating printed on the card, with no reversal upon cooling. Accuracy is specified as ±2%.
Available temperature ratings span from low-temperature monitoring up to high-heat verification points:
- Low Range: 38°C (100°F) through 99°C (210°F)
- Mid Range: 104°C (220°F) through 149°C (300°F)
- High Range: 204°C (400°F) and 260°C (500°F)
The physical dimensions of the indicator are a dot dimension of 4.8 mm (3/16") diameter, contained within an individual label size of 12 mm (1/2") square.
Configuration Options
Series 21 labels are supplied on sheets containing 21 units each to facilitate fast, on-the-spot application. The adhesive backing allows for immediate attachment without additional tools or mounting hardware.
- Packaging Configuration: Standard packaging includes 10 sheets of a single temperature rating per pack (totaling 210 labels).
- Bulk Options: Packs are available in quantities ranging from 1 Pack to 50 Packs, supporting total label counts up to 10,500 units.
- Pricing Structure: All temperature ratings can be combined for quantity pricing across different model numbers within an order.
The series supports a wide selection of discrete set points. Model numbering follows the format 21-XXX, where XXX corresponds to the Fahrenheit rating (e.g., 21-500 indicates a 260°C / 500°F activation point).
Key Product Differences
Variation within the Series 21 is defined strictly by the temperature set point. Each model number corresponds to one specific activation threshold, ranging from Model No. 21-100 (38°C / 100°F) up to Model No. 21-500 (260°C / 500°F). There are no variations in housing material, output signal type, or sensor element technology within this series; the product identity is determined solely by the thermal rating required for the specific monitoring point.

1. What is the shelf life for the non-reversible temperature indicating label? 2. Will repeated temperature below the prescribed temperature cause the label to turn black? Thanks James
Hi, 1. It depends on the temperature of the label.
2. If is at a below temperature for a long period of time it will cause the label to turn black, some labels need to be stored in room temperature. Please feel free to reach out to temp@omega.com to better understand your application and assist with purchasing the correct product for your needs. However, we hope this helps.
