Supported Applications

The Omega HHM-NCV40 is a Non-Contact Voltage Detector designed to safely determine whether an electric line, cable, or AC outlet is energized. It operates by sensing the electromagnetic field created by AC voltage without requiring physical contact with conductors.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HHM-NCV40 provides a detection range of 5 to 1000VAC and is rated safe for CAT IV 1000V use. The unit features redundant indications, including beeper sounds and rapidly flashing red LEDs when voltage is detected.

Operational limits require that the tester not be exposed to temperatures above 104°F (40°C) or relative humidity greater than 85%. The device cannot detect DC voltages. Additionally, it will not detect AC voltage on shielded conductors, behind walls or conduit, or under soil.

Configuration Options

The series includes the following documented features and configurations:

  • Sensitivity Control: Adjustable sensitivity setting to optimize detection for specific environments.
  • Indication Method: Redundant audible (beeper) and visual (red LED flash) alerts upon voltage presence.
  • Power Source: Powered by two AAA batteries.
  • Mechanical Features: Includes a pocket clip for portability and storage.
  • Safety Certification: ETL approved.

Key Product Differences

The HHM-NCV40 is the sole model in this series. Users must confirm battery status before each use by testing against a known energized 110VAC outlet or generating static electricity via hair friction with sensitivity set to maximum. The unit includes an automatic standby reminder where the red LED flashes slowly if left powered on, and users are instructed to move the power switch to OFF after operation.
