Supported Applications

The Omega MFT series consists of multiconductor feedthroughs designed for applications requiring several thermocouple sensors to pass through a wall or bulkhead at one opening. These compression-type fittings are engineered for high-pressure or vacuum applications when used with stainless steel ferrules, providing sealing capabilities in demanding environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The MFT series accommodates probe diameters ranging from 1 to 6 mm (0.040 to ¼ inch). The fittings support configurations with up to 16 probes within a single fitting, depending on the selected sheath diameter and model number.

Construction Materials

• Housing: Manufactured from 416 stainless steel (416 SS).
• Ferrules: Standard ferrules are supplied in 300 series stainless steel; PTFE ferrules are available for re-use applications.

Configuration Options

The MFT feedthroughs offer extensive configurability across mounting threads, probe counts, and material options to suit specific installation requirements.

Mounting Threads & Standards

• NPT: Available in ¼", ½", and ¾" NPT sizes based on the number of probes and sheath diameter.
• ISO T/BPST: Metric versions are available by adding "-BSPT" to the model number, with no additional charge. Thread options include ¼", ½", and ¾" ISO T/ BPST mounting threads corresponding to metric probe diameters (1.0 mm through 6.0 mm).

Probe Capacity & Dimensions

The series supports varying numbers of probes per fitting, determined by the sheath diameter code and model selection:

• Sheath Diameter (inch): 0.040", 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", and ¼".
• Probe Count: Configurations range from 3 to 16 probes per fitting, with specific model numbers such as MFT-040-3 (3 probes) through MFT-040-16 (16 probes).

Ferrule Options

Replacement ferrules are available in both standard and metric sizes:

• Material Types: 316 SS or PTFE.
• Sizing: Ferrules match probe diameters from 0.040" to ¼" (standard) and 1.0 mm to 6.0 mm (metric).
• Note: If PTFE ferrules are required, add the suffix "-PTFE" to the model number; one ferrule is needed for each conductor.

Accessories

• Male Threaded Caps: Optional caps replace standard cap locking nuts. Available in ¼ NPT (FTN-1), ½ NPT (FTN-1-12), and ¾ NPT (FTN-1-14).
• Teflon Tape: PTFE tape is available as an accessory.

Key Product Differences

The MFT series distinguishes between standard inch-based models and metric variants. Standard model numbers follow the format MFT--, such as MFT-116-6 for a 1/16" sheath with 6 probes.

Key variations include:

• Housing Material: All units feature a 416 SS body and cap.
• Ferrule Composition: Standard supply includes stainless steel ferrules; PTFE options are available for specific re-use needs but require separate ordering or suffix modification.
• Thread Standards: Inch models utilize NPT threads, while metric models use ISO T/BPST threads. The physical dimensions (Length L1 and L2) vary by thread size and probe count as detailed in the specification tables.
