Supported Applications

The Dwyer Model EMMA is a digital multifunctional environmental meter designed to combine the functions of a sound level meter, luminometer, relative humidity meter, temperature meter, and anemometer into a single instrument. It supports monitoring of humidity, temperature, air velocity, air flow, sound, and light in one device.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within ambient temperatures ranging from 14 to 140°F (-10 to 60°C). Measurement capabilities include:

  • Sound Level: 30 to 130 dB(A) and 35 to 130 dB(C), with an accuracy of ±1.5 dB.
  • Illumination: 0 to 50,000 lux, accurate to ±5% of reading + 10.
  • Relative Humidity: 0 to 100% RH (±3% RH at 20 to 80% @ 25°C).
  • Temperature: 14 to 140°F (-10 to 60°C), with an accuracy of ±2.7°F (1.5°C).
  • Air Velocity/Flow: Wind speed from 96 to 5,913 fpm and air flow up to 999,900 cfm (0.5 to 30 m/s), accurate to ±3% of reading + 10.

The instrument features a response time of 500 msec. The display is a dual-line, 4-½ digit LCD with backlight capability for use in dimly lit areas.

Configuration Options

The Model EMMA includes integrated sensors and controls to manage multiple environmental parameters:

  • Sensors: Microphone (sound level), light sensor (illuminance), airflow sensor, and temperature/humidity sensor.
  • Data Functions: MAX/MIN/AVG/DIF (MAX-MIN) value display, data hold function, auto-ranging, and low battery indication.
  • Power & Operation: Powered by a 9 V alkaline battery (included), with manual power off. Auto power-off is enabled via the LCD indicator.
  • Housing & Accessories: Includes a carrying case, rubber boot, and tripod connector for mounting on a tripod. A windscreen protects the airflow sensor.

The unit weighs 15.5 oz (430 g). Agency approvals include CE compliance with EMC Directive standards.

Key Product Differences

The Model EMMA is offered as a single multifunctional configuration combining all listed measurement types. The instrument provides selectable units for wind speed indication including m/s, km/h, ft/s, and knots, as well as airflow in CMM or CFM. Illuminance resolution varies by range: 1 up to 2,000 lux; 10 up to 20,000 lux; and 100 up to 50,000 lux.

To measure airflow, does this unit have a expandable wand accessory so you can get inside of vents and small spaces or does it use the small fan positioned at the front of the device?

Asked by: Windigo
Hello, There is no other accessory used for measuring airflow. The device uses the fan positioned on the front of the unit.
