Supported Applications

The Omega MTC Series Multi-pin Thermocouple Connector Bodies provide a means of joining multi-wire thermocouple cables. These connectors are designed for use with Omega multipair extension cable to facilitate rapid, convenient connection and dismantling of apparatus without handling individual sensors.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The MTC Series connector bodies withstand ambient temperatures up to 392°F (200°C). The design utilizes a combination of resilient and rigid dielectric insulators intended to eliminate internal air voids and prevent the passage of air and moisture into or through the connector. While these products do not carry a MIL spec number, they meet the performance requirements of MIL-C-26500E and are intermateable with MIL-C-26500 connectors.

Configuration Options

The series is available in multiple cavity configurations and mounting styles to accommodate various multi-wire thermocouple setups. Connector bodies feature aluminum shells with a black anodized finish.

Cavity Configurations

  • 5 cavities (e.g., MTC-5-MC, MTC-5-FC)
  • 12 cavities (e.g., MTC-12-MC, MTC-12-FF)
  • 24 cavities (e.g., MTC-24-MC, MTC-24-SHL)
  • 41 cavities
  • 55 cavities

Connector Styles and Options

  • In-line cable connectors with threaded couplings: Available as Male Cord (Style MC) or Female Cord (Style FC).
  • Flange mounted receptacle: Female Flanged connector with threaded coupling (Style FF).
  • Backshell Cable Clamp: Style SHL provides effective support for the cable at male or female connectors and prevents twisting and pulling.

Contact cavities are identified with a spiral guide line indicating cavity sequence; the first and last cavities are numbered, and every tenth cavity is bracketed. The series supports thermocouple alloy pins (sold separately) and removable crimp contacts for 20 to 24 AWG stranded wire.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the MTC Series differ by the number of cavities and the specific connector style code. The model numbering follows the format MTC-<Number of Cavities>-. For example, MTC-55-MC denotes a 55-cavity male cord connector body, while MTC-24-SHL indicates a backshell cable clamp for a 24-cavity configuration. Contacts are not included with the connector bodies and must be ordered separately.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be 5 stars BUT... I like these connectors. They do what they are supposed to. But, trying to figure out what you need is difficult. It would be better if you offered a preconfigured kit with all you need. And, this stuff is too expensive.

If MTC-41-MC is threaded or Buoyant ?

Asked by: Prince
The MTC-41-MC has a thread ring which will engage with the MTC-41-FF to lock in place and the other side has threads to allow the backshell cable clamp to be attached.

Do these connectors come with pins or are they sold separate?

Asked by: dbcarman
Thank you for connecting with Omega. The pins and sockets for the MTC series connectors are sold separate. Each pin and socket is made with thermocouple specific metals to match the wire.

Hi, Would it be possible to connect 10 K-type thermocouples to one of the 24 pin models? would this cause any significant difference in the measured temperature from the sensor?

Asked by: MattH99
Hi MattH99 Thank you for the inquiry. The 10 K thermocouples will occupy 20 of the 24 ports. That is fine. Empty ports will not affect the occupied ports. Best regards, OMEGA
