Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 3HBAV is an electrically driven ball valve designed for flow control in hot and cold water HVAC systems. The product overview identifies typical use cases including air conditioning systems, heating systems, water treatment facilities, and production industries.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series 3HBAV operates within an ambient temperature range of -22 to 158°F (-30 to 70°C) and a process fluid temperature range of 23 to 122°F (-5 to 50°C). The valve is rated for a maximum pressure of 375 psi (25 bar), with a close-off rating of 87 psi (6 bar).

Wetted materials include Brass, SS, NBR, and PTFE. The enclosure carries an IP10 / NEMA 1 rating.

Configuration Options

The series is available in six sizes ranging from 1/2" to 2", with corresponding flow coefficients (Cv) of 4.5, 7.0, 11.2, 17.9, 27.9, and 44.7 respectively. Process connections are Female NPT.

Power supply options include:

  • 120 VAC
  • 24 VAC (50/60 Hz, single phase)

The actuator is driven by a bidirectional AC motor and features position switches and an indicator. Actuator types are available as:

  • Floating
  • Modulating

Electrical connections utilize 18 AWG wiring. Modulating models in sizes 1/2" through 1" include an electric cord attached on the outside, while modulating models in sizes 1-1/4" through 2" contain a 4-wire terminal block.

Output signals for specific configurations include:

  • 3-wire
  • 4 to 20 mA (available with 24 VAC power only)

Key Product Differences

The Series 3HBAV model number structure follows the format: 3HBAV - Size - Supply Voltage - Input Type. Examples include models such as 3HBAV0212, 3HBAV0214, and 3HBAV0224.

Variations in physical dimensions correlate with valve size. For instance, the overall dimension A ranges from 3.62 [92] for sizes up to 1" to 4.84 [123] for larger sizes. Weights range from 1.43 lb (0.65 kg) for a 1/2" valve to 4.19 lb (1.90 kg) for a 2" valve.

The actuator housing is constructed of plastic, nylon, and polyoxymethylene. The series includes detachable actuators; however, the unit is not field serviceable and requires return authorization for repair.
