Supported Applications

The Omega Alta Wireless Water Detection Sensors detect the presence or non-presence of water by completing a circuit between two leaded wires. Upon detection, an RF radio transmits data to a wireless gateway and the iMonnit Online Sensor Monitoring and Notification System. Documented applications include:

• Water heater monitoring
• Plumbing leak detection
• Sump monitoring
• Boat bilge monitoring
• Reservoir level monitoring

The series is not for use in corrosive, volatile, flammable, or dusty conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Sensors immediately detect water using high impedance detection wires. The wireless range extends to 1,000+ ft. non-line-of-sight, though actual range may vary depending on the environment. Security is provided via Encrypt-RF™ (256-bit key exchange and AES-128 CTR). Integrated memory stores up to 512 sensor messages.

Operating temperature ranges depend on the power source:

• -7°C to +60°C (20°F to +140°F) for Coin Cell variants
• -18°C to 55°C (0°F to 130°F) using alkaline AA batteries
• -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F) using lithium or industrial battery configurations

Optimal battery temperature ranges are +10°C to +50°C (+50°F to +122°F). At temperatures above 100°C, it is possible for the board circuitry to lose programmed memory.

Variants and Power Options

The series supports multiple power configurations:

• CR2032 Coin Cell (Commercial)
• Two 1.5 V AA batteries, replaceable (Alkaline or Lithium) (Commercial)
• Included 1800 mAh battery with optional solar feature (Industrial)
• Line power option: 3.0 - 3.6 VDC with backup AA batteries

Solar panel specifications include a 5VDC / 30mA output, charging temperature range of 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F), and an included rechargeable battery rated at 600 mAh with >2000 charge cycles.

Configuration Options

The series offers three primary sensor families: Commercial Coin Cell, Commercial AA, and Industrial. All variants feature a 3 ft. (36 in.) lead wire length and high impedance detection wires. Output signals include SMS text alerts and email alerts via the iMonnit system.

Housing options vary by model:

• Commercial Coin Cell: Dimensions 2.0 in (50.8 mm) width, 1.125 in (28.575 mm) height, 0.875 in (22.225 mm) depth; weight 0.7 Ounces.
• Commercial AA: Dimensions 4.375 in width, 2.470 in height, 1.111 in depth; weight 3.7 Ounces.

Certifications and Frequency Bands

All models carry FCC, CE, and Industry Canada certifications. Specific compliance details include:

• 900 MHz product: FCC ID ZTL- G2SC1 and IC 9794A-G2SC1.
• 868 and 433 MHz products tested to EN 300 220-2 V3.1.1 (2017-02) and EN 60950.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between Commercial and Industrial configurations based on enclosure rating, battery type, and temperature range capabilities. The Coin Cell variant is the smallest (0.7 Ounces) with a narrower operating temperature (-7°C to +60°C). The AA variants support alkaline or lithium batteries for extended ranges down to -40°C.

Industrial models feature PinchPower™ Enclosures, NEMA 1/2/4/4x/12/13 ratings, and UL508-4x listing. They include a higher capacity battery (1800 mAh) or optional solar charging with rechargeable batteries rated for -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F). Commercial grade sensors are explicitly restricted from corrosive, volatile, flammable, dusty, low/high pressure, excessively humid, salt water, or high vibration environments.

Hardware cannot withstand negative voltage. Over-the-air updates and the free iMonnit basic online wireless sensor monitoring system are available options.
