Supported Applications
The ALTA Industrial Wireless Three Phase Current Meter measures the RMS current of an alternating current (AC) system using three current transformers (CTs) that wrap around the conductors of a three-phase power system. It reports minimum, maximum, and average RMS current, duty cycle for each phase, and the combined amp hours of all three phases to the iMonnit system, making it ideal for energy monitoring, motor and pump load profiling, and predictive-maintenance programs across industrial facilities.
Because data is delivered wirelessly to iMonnit, the meter suits distributed installations where running signal cable is impractical. Readings are pushed on every heartbeat or immediately when current exceeds configured thresholds, so operators can trend consumption and catch abnormal load conditions in near real time.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The meter uses 0-150 amp current transducers, with an absolute maximum CT current of 200 Amps RMS (Arms) and a maximum accurate CT current of 150 Arms over a frequency range of 50-100 Hz. Accuracy is +/- 2% @ 2 to 150 Arms, +/- 0.4 Arms @ < 15 Arms, improving to +/- 1% @ 2 to 150 Arms, +/- 0.2 Arms @ < 2 Arms when calibrated with an appropriate offset. Offset limits run from -1.27 to + 1.27 Arms (default set to +0.3 Arms).
Measurement resolution is 0.01 Arms average, 1 Arms maximum and minimum, 1% duty, and 0.1 Amp Hours. The default averaging interval is 5 seconds. Each of the three current transformers ships with 3 ft wires and measures 67 mm x 49 mm x 42 mm (24 mm inner diameter).
The sensor operates over -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F) and runs on 2.0-3.8 VDC (3.0-3.8 VDC using power supply) from an included 1500 mAh battery. Integrated memory holds up to 3200 sensor messages and wireless range is 1,200+ ft non-line-of-sight, secured with Encrypt-RF® (256-bit key exchange and AES-128 CTR). The sealed, weatherproof enclosure is NEMA 1, 2, 4, 4x, 12 and 13 rated and weighs 28.7 ounces. Certifications include FCC, CE, Industry Canada, and UL Listed to UL508-4x specifications (File E194432).
Configuration Options
This series is offered as a single, fully featured three-phase configuration that bundles all three current transformers, wireless radio, and the complete measurement set — per-phase minimum, maximum, and average RMS current plus duty cycle and combined amp hours. There are no reduced-channel or scaled-down variants; every unit delivers the full 0-150 Arms three-phase capability described above.
Field capability can be extended with an optional solar feature comprising a 5VDC/30mA solar panel (53mm x 30mm) and a 600 mAh rechargeable battery rated for >2000 charge cycles. With the solar option, the charging temperature range is 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F) and the maximum temperature range is -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F), supporting continuous unattended operation in remote locations.
