Supported Applications

The Omega LCGB Series comprises miniature low-profile compression load cells designed for industrial force measurement. These units feature through-body mounting holes and an integral load button to ensure even force distribution when mounted on a flat surface using cap screws.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of 16 to 71°C (60 to 160°F) and supports process temperatures from -54 to 121°C (-65 to 250°F). Measurement capabilities span compression ranges from 0-50 lb to 0-50,000 lb (0-23 kg to 0-22,686 kg). Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±0.25% FSO, hysteresis of ±0.20% FSO, and repeatability of ±0.10% FSO.

Electrical characteristics are defined by a 350 Ω minimum load resistance and a nominal output signal of 2 mV/V with an excitation voltage of 10 Vdc. The all stainless steel construction provides reliability in harsh environments, meeting IP54 enclosure ratings. Each unit includes a 5-point NIST-traceable calibration and 59 kΩ shunt data.

Dimensional Variations by Capacity

The physical dimensions of the LCGB series vary according to capacity:

  • 50 to 2,000 lb: D1: 32 mm (1.25 in), H: 10 mm (0.39 in)
  • 3,000 to 10,000 lb: D1: 38 mm (1.50 in), H: 16 mm (0.63 in)
  • 15,000 to 30,000 lb: D1: 51 mm (2.00 in), H: 25 mm (1.00 in)
  • 50,000 lb: D1: 76 mm (3.00 in), H: 38 mm (1.50 in)

Configuration Options

The LCGB series is offered with a standard electrical connection consisting of a 1.5 m (5') 4-conductor cable with strain relief. The housing and wetted materials are constructed from stainless steel.

Available capacities include discrete models ranging from 50 lb to 50,000 lb. Specific model numbers follow the format LCGB-<CAPACITY>, such as LCGB-5K for a 5,000 lb capacity or LCGB-50 for a 50 lb capacity.

Compatible meters listed in documentation include DPIS, DP41-S, and DP25B-S. The series holds RoHS compliance certification.

Hi, I'm using the LCGB-30k in a pilot-calender and need to re-design the force measurement. Does this sensor designed deform in force-direction when force is applied? Or can it be seen as static?

I am interested in using this load cell to measure the force being applied by different rocket engines sizings for a club at my school and was wondering what is the minimum force that can be measured by this load cell?

Will the 30,000 lbf model retain its measurement accuracy at lower applied forces of about 1000 lbf?

Generally the load will not be as accurate in the lower 10% of its range.

Would the 50,000 lbf model be able to measure a very small force such as 10lbf or would it not sense it because it is built for larger forces?

Is this load cell capable of handling an alternating current? If supplied with an alternating current, is it expected for the output signal to fluctuate with the excitation voltage?

Yes they will run on a low voltage AC signal (nominal 10V, 15V max). Your instrumentation you are reading the output signal with also have to be able to read the low level 20 mV AC signal that the load cell would output
