Supported Applications

The Omega PXM509-IS series comprises metric, high-accuracy intrinsically safe pressure transmitters designed for hazardous locations. These solid-state sensors are specified for process control in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, natural gas compressors, chemical refineries, oil and gas facilities, pipeline measurements, hydrogen service (with 316L SS wetted parts standard), and power generation applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series utilizes an oil-filled silicon sensor with a welded stainless steel housing. Measurement capabilities span gage pressure, sealed gage, absolute pressure, compound gage, vacuum (negative gage), and barometric pressure ranges from 0 to 1 inH₂O up to 3500 psi (245 bar). Accuracy is rated at ±0.08% BSL maximum for combined linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability; other accuracies include ±0.5% full scale typical or ±1% full scale typical depending on configuration.

Performance specifications are defined by the following parameters:

  • Compensated Temperature Range: 10 inH₂O to 5 psi: -17 to 75°C; 15 to 3500 psi: -29 to 75°C

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between standard and metric models, as well as various hazardous location approvals. The PXM509-IS designation specifically refers to the Metric model line with Intrinsically Safe ratings. Model numbers follow patterns such as PX5[**]-<RANGE>GC2IS (or AC2IS, VC2IS, BC2IS) followed by an electrical termination code.

Approvals include FM Intrinsically Safe for Class I, II, III, Division 1 Groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G and Class I, Zone 0 (AEx ia IIC in US; Ex ia IIC in Canada) with T4 temperature code. Non-Incendive ratings cover Class I Division 2 Groups A, B, C, D for both US and Canada. The series complies with EN 61326-1:2006 and EN 61326-2-3:2006 Industrial levels standards and is RoHS Compliant.

Specific range configurations include Compound Gage (e.g., ±10 inH₂O to ±15 psig), Vacuum/Negative Gage, Barometric/Absolute Pressure ranges (e.g., 0 to 32 inHg or 16 to 32 inHg), and standard gage pressure up to 3500 psi. Mating connectors are not included for PX539-IS, PX519-IS, and PX559-IS series models.
