Supported Applications

The Omega M8 Cable series provides extension cables designed for use with 2- or 3-wire RTD sensors equipped with M8 connectors. These patch cords facilitate connections between the sensor and instrumentation, featuring a female M8 connector on one end to mate with straight or right-angled male M8 style sensors.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series utilizes silicone-insulated cables for flexibility in routing. The electrical configuration consists of three wires: two red and one white, terminating as flying leads at the non-M8 end to connect directly to measurement devices or control systems.

Configuration Options

The M8C series is configurable across connector orientation and cable length options. The documented envelope includes:

  • Connector Orientation: Available with a straight 3-pin female M8 or a right-angled 3-pin female M8 on the sensor end.
  • Cable Lengths: Offered in three standard lengths: 1.5 m (4.9'), 3 m (9.8'), and 5 m (16.4').
  • Termination Details: The first end terminates to the M8 connector, while the second end provides flying leads with a color code of two red wires and one white wire.
  • Cable Insulation: Silicone insulation is used across all variants in this series.

The model number guide follows the format M8C-SIL-3-<Connector Type>-<Length>, where connector type denotes straight (S) or right-angled (R), and length corresponds to meters. Field mountable M8 connectors are listed as related options, including models M8-S-F-FM, M8-S-M-FM, M8-R-M-FM, and M8-R-F-FM.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series differ primarily by physical orientation of the female connector and total cable length. The straight configuration (S) aligns with inline sensor mounting, while the right-angled configuration (R) accommodates space-constrained installations where a 90-degree bend is required at the connection point.

Which of these would work as a power cable similar to Universal AC adapter with M8 connector (Item# UNIV-AC-100/240-5-M8)?

Asked by: Markistakenapparently
These M8C cable assemblies are only made for carrying DC sensor signals not AC electrical supply signals and Omega does not recommend it for that use.
