Supported Applications

The Omega PRS series sensors are designed for use in Sanitary Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems. These assemblies feature a Tri-Grip® flanged thermowell to facilitate easy installation into Food, Dairy, and Biopharmaceutical systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series utilizes Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) technology with a 4-wire PT100 Platinum element meeting IEC 60751 Class A requirements. The standard measurement range is -50 to 200°C (-58 to 392°F). Accuracy specifications include ±(0.15 + 0.002t) °C and a resistance tolerance of 100 ±0.06 Ω at 0°C.

Performance characteristics are defined by the following parameters:

• Response Time: 2.5 Seconds max (63%)
• Excitation Current Limit: No more than 1 milliamp to prevent self-heating effects.
• Sensor Resistance at Temperature (°C): Rt = R0(1 + A*t + B*t²), where R0 is 100 Ohms Nominal, A is 3.9083 x 10⁻³ °C⁻¹, and B is 5.775 x 10⁻⁷ °C⁻².

Configuration Options

The PRS series offers configurable dimensions across the standard model line while maintaining a consistent sanitary design envelope:

• Housing & Materials: 316L Stainless Steel thermowell with wetted surfaces finished to 32 microinches or better.
• Process Connection: Standard 1½" 16 AMP Tri-Grip™ (Tri-Clamp® Compatible) fitting. The series supports a flange size range of ¼ to 4" Tri-Grip™ Process Flanges upon consultation with sales.
• Electrical Interface: 4-Wire M12 Male Connector plug. Optional mating cables include the M12C-PVC-4-S-F-5 (sold separately) and extension cables available online.
• Probe Dimensions: Standard well features a 0.5" dia. stem with a 0.75" stepped down profile for insertion lengths over 2.5", and a 0.260" bore diameter.

Standard insertion lengths available in the series include 1½", 2½", 4½", 7½", and 10½". Corresponding well stem lengths are offered at 2½", 4", 6", 9", and 12".

Key Product Differences

The series is identified by the model pattern PRS-3-100-A-TW-<Well Stem Length>-D1-M12. Specific variations are distinguished primarily by stem length, which dictates insertion depth and overall assembly size:

• PRS-3-100-A-TW-0163-D1-M12: 2½" well stem length with a 1½" insertion length.
• PRS-3-100-A-TW-0250-D1-M12: 4" well stem length with a 2½" insertion length.
• PRS-3-100-A-TW-0450-D1-M12, PRS-3-100-A-TW-0750-D1-M12, and PRS-3-100-A-TW-1050-D1-M12: Longer stem lengths (6", 9", and 12" respectively) with insertion lengths of 4½", 7½", and 10½". These models feature a shank diameter that steps from ¾" to ½".

All variants utilize the same 316L SS sheath material, Class A Pt100 element, and M12 electrical connection style.
