Supported Applications
The Omega LD620 series comprises rugged LVDT linear position sensors designed for displacement measurement in industrial automation and control environments. These transducers feature a guided core design with removable springs, providing frictionless operation suitable for applications requiring precise stroke monitoring.
- Displacement sensing across bi-directional (±) or uni-directional (0 to X) ranges
- Motion tracking where IP67 environmental sealing is required
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LD620 series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 °C to +65°C (32 to 149°F). Storage conditions are specified as -20 to 85°C (-4 to 185°F). The sensors deliver a linearity performance of <0.2% FSO with an output ripple of 0.2% FSO and a bandwidth of 500 Hz (-3 dB).
- Excitation Voltage: 10 to 30 Vdc @ 25 mA maximum
- Vibration Rating (Sinusoidal Frequency): 10 to 50 Hz at 1 to 10 g rms linear amplitude; 50 Hz to 1 kHz at 10 g rms amplitude
- Shock Resistance: Drop Testing of 1 m (3') onto hard surface; Topple Testing of 10 times each end onto hard surface
Configuration Options
The series is configured with a stainless steel body and offers specific dimensional, electrical, and mechanical options to match installation requirements.
Housing and Construction
- Case Material: 300 SS (Stainless Steel)
- Diameter: 19.00 mm (0.75 in)
- Sealing: IP67 environmental rating
- Cable: PFA, 2 m (6') long cable with wiring code RED = +EXC, BLUE = -EXC, YELLOW = +SIG, GREEN = -SIG
Measurement Ranges and Outputs
The series supports travel lengths from ±2.5 mm to ±150 mm for bi-directional models (LD620) and 0 to 5 mm up to 0 to 300 mm for uni-directional models (LD621). Output signals are fixed by model family:
- LD620 Models: ±5 Vdc output
- LD621 Models: 0 to 10 Vdc output
Mechanical Options and Accessories
- Process Connection: M6 x 1.0-6g full thread
- Core Material: Nickel-iron
- Tip Adaptor/Ball Tip (Model LD-TIP)
- U-joint Retro Fit Kit (Model LD-UJOINT-KIT)
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction within the series is between the LD620 and LD621 model families, defined by their output signal type and measurement range orientation. The LD620 models provide a bi-directional ±5 Vdc output corresponding to ranges such as ±2.5 mm through ±150 mm. Conversely, the LD621 models deliver a uni-directional 0 to 10 Vdc output for ranges starting at 0 to 5 mm and extending up to 0 to 300 mm.
Physical dimensions vary by range selection; body length (Dimension A) spans from 94.0 mm (3.7 in) for the smallest travel models to 450.9 mm (17.8 in) for the largest, while fully extended length (Dimension B) ranges from 35.3 mm (1.4 in) to 457.3 mm (18.0 in). The series carries a CE mark and includes a 1 YEAR WARRANTY.

Hi, When the output is +-5 Vdc and the range is +-10 mm, does it mean the core moves on both ends of the LVDT? Or does one end always fixed, no matter what the electrical output is?
Yes, One armature move in and out to provide +/-5Vdc output. Please click on manuals and downloads Tab. See user M4345 user manual for more tech info.

I have a LD621-15 that I'm using to test Frequency Response of a Hydraulic actuator. I would like to knot what kind of latency (in Seconds or Fractions of a second) there is in the internal electronics of the output signal?
Thank you for you inquiry. Unfortunately there is no data available on the lag between movement to the rod and signal response of the LD621

Is this model spring-loaded? If so, in which direction (i.e. does it always try to stay extended, or retracted)?
Yes it is spring-loaded in the extended position

we have a couple LD621-5's on the shelf and would like to verify if they are good, is there a good procedure to do this with multimeter?
Thank you for your inquire
Best is to energize the unit and stretch-out the 5 mm and you should get a 10 volt output.
Hope this was helpful

Two quick questions: What is the accuracy of the measurement? (we are looking for submillimeter accuracy) Do you have off the shelf units to plug this into and get measurement data out of?
Hello, the linearity of measurement will be 0.2% of your Full Span. We do not carry a LVDT that can measure in sub millimeter accuracy.

Hi, is one end fixed and the other end moves freely?
Yes, this is one direction LVDT from to 0 to 20mm with 0 to 10VDC output. One armature moves.
