Supported Applications
The Omega LC402 series comprises low-profile, pancake-style load cells designed for industrial weighing applications. These tension and compression sensors feature all stainless steel construction intended for harsh environments. The series supports measurement ranges from 50 lb to 750,000 lb (25 kgf to 10,000 kgf) with a standard output of 3 mV/V ±0.25% and an optional 0 to 5 Vdc output for capacities ≥5000 kg.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LC402 series delivers high-accuracy performance characterized by a linearity of 0.10% FSO, hysteresis of 0.10% FSO, and repeatability of 0.05% FSO. The units feature an interchangeability accuracy class of 0.25%. Operating temperature ranges vary by model family: LC402/LCM402 models operate from -54 to 121°C (-65 to 250°F), while LC412/LCM412 models operate from -54 to 127°C (-65 to 260°F). The compensated temperature range is 16 to 71°C (60 to 160°F).
Electrical specifications include a bridge resistance of 350 ±10 Ω and an excitation voltage of 10 Vdc with a maximum of 15 Vdc. The series carries an IP65 protection class rating. Overload limits are defined as 150% safe overload capacity; ultimate overload is rated at 300% of capacity for ranges ≤400,000 lb and 200% of capacity for ranges >400,000 lb.
Configuration Options
The series offers extensive configuration options to accommodate specific installation requirements. Key capabilities include:
- Housing & Construction: 17-4 PH stainless steel construction with dimensions varying by capacity (Diameter: 76 mm/3.00 in to 330 mm/13.0 in; Height: 38 mm/1.50 in to 114 mm/4.50 in).
- Electrical Connections: LC402/LCM402 models include a 4.8 m (15') 4-conductor shielded PVC cable; LC412/LCM412 models utilize a DT02H-10-6P connector or equivalent.
- Process Connections: Standard load buttons (e.g., LBC-038, LBC-012) and metric load buttons (e.g., MLBC-M10, MLBC-M12), as well as standard male rod ends (REC series) and metric male rod ends (MREC series).
- Output Options: Standard 3 mV/V ±0.25% or optional 0 to 5 Vdc output for capacities ≥5000 kg.
- Suffix Configurations: Dual bridge (-DUAL), Overload Stops (-OL), Extended Temperature Range (-TC1: -45 to 93°C/-50 to 200°F; -TC2: -45 to 163°C/-50 to 325°F), and Tension Plates (-TP<code>).
Key Product Differences
The series is divided into standard (LC402) and metric (LCM402) cable models, as well as connector-based variants LC412 and LCM412. Standard thread sizes range from ⅜-24 to 4-8 for capacities up to 750K lb; metric threads range from M10 x 1.5 to M24 x 2.0.
Calibration protocols differ based on configuration: standard units undergo a 5-point calibration (0%, 50%, 100%, 50%, 0%) in compression, while units ordered with an optional tension plate are calibrated in tension. Models exceeding 300,000 lb are calibrated at 300,000 lb; full-scale calibration above this threshold within ±1% is available by adding the suffix '-FS'.
