Supported Applications

The Omega LP-PS Series consists of Low Profile DIN Rail Power Supplies designed for industrial control systems. These single-phase units provide reliable DC power with minimal depth, featuring short circuit, overload, and overvoltage protection. The series includes an LED indicator to show power-on status.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LP-PS Series operates within a working temperature range of -20 to 50°C (-4 to 122°F) and supports humidity levels from 20 to 90% RH non-condensing. The units accept universal AC inputs ranging from 85 to 264 Vac, 47 to 63 Hz, or DC inputs of 120 to 370 Vdc. Output voltage is specified at 24 Vdc with a tolerance and line/load regulation of ±1%. Efficiency ranges between 80% and 89%, depending on the model.

Protection specifications vary by power rating: models LP-PS-1524, LP-PS-3024, LP-PS-4524, and LP-PS-6024 feature overload protection from 105% to 160%, with output voltages between 27.6V and 32.4V during fault conditions. The LP-PS-10024 model provides overload protection from 105% to 135%, maintaining an output voltage of 30 to 35V.

Configuration Options

The series is available in multiple power ratings and widths, all designed for installation on a 35 x 7.5 or 35 x 15 mm DIN rail. The overall dimensions are listed as 96 H x 56 mm D (3.66 x 2.22"), with width varying by model.

Available configurations include:

  • Rated Power and Current Options:
  • LP-PS-1524: 15.2 W, 0.63 A (Width: 25 mm / 0.98")
  • LP-PS-3024: 36 W, 1.5 A (Width: 78 mm / 3.07")
  • LP-PS-4524: 48 W, 2 A (Width: 78 mm / 3.07")
  • LP-PS-6024: 60 W, 2.5 A (Width: 78 mm / 3.07")
  • LP-PS-10024: 100.8 W, 4.0 A (Width: 100 mm / 3.94")

Safety and Compliance:

  • Certifications include CE marked, UL listed, UL508, EN60950-1.
  • EMI compliance to EN55011, EN55022 (CISPR22), Class B.
  • Harmonic Current: Compliance to EN61000-3-2, -3.
  • EMS Immunity for 10 and 20 W Models: Light industry level, criteria A per EN61000-4-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, EN50204, EN55024, EN61000-6-1, EN61204-3.
  • EMS Immunity for 40, 60 and 100 W Models: Heavy industry level, criteria A per EN61000-4-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, EN50204, EN55024, EN61000-6-2, EN61204-3.
  • Withstand Voltage (I/P-O/P): 3k Vac; Insulation Resistance: I/P-O/P, 100 m Ω/500 Vdc.

Inrush Current and Ripple:

  • Cold start inrush currents vary by model (e.g., LP-PS-1524: 35A at 115 Vac, 65A at 230 Vac).
  • Output ripple and noise is specified as 150 mVp-p for most models; the LP-PS-4524 lists 480 mVp-p.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes itself by power capacity, physical width, and specific electrical performance characteristics. While all units share a common low-profile design and DIN rail mounting interface, the LP-PS-1524 is significantly narrower (25 mm) compared to the 78 mm or 100 mm widths of higher-power models.

Electrical variations include specific AC current draws at different input voltages. For example, the LP-PS-3024 draws 0.88A/115 Vac and 0.48A/230 Vac, whereas the LP-PS-6024 requires 1.2A/115 Vac and 0.80A/230 Vac. The LP-PS-10024 draws 3A at 115 Vac and 1.6A at 230 Vac.

Protection thresholds differ between the lower-power group (LP-PS-1524 through LP-PS-6024) and the high-power LP-PS-10024, with distinct overload percentages and voltage ranges during fault conditions. Additionally, output ripple specifications vary, with the 48 W model exhibiting higher noise levels than its counterparts.
