Supported Applications
The Omega LDB Series comprises large format industrial meters designed for long-distance reading in industrial applications. The series supports multiple measurement functions across distinct model families: RS485 ASCII protocol communication, Modbus RTU numerical value display, temperature monitoring (Pt100/RTD and thermocouples), process signal conditioning (mA/Vdc), chronometer/time counter operations, and impulse counting/ratemetering.
Documented functional capabilities include:
- RS485 ASCII Protocol Meters: Designed for long-distance reading with configurable working modes including 'Process slave', 'Full slave', and 'Text'.
- Modbus RTU Meters: Controlled via Modbus RTU protocol supporting 16-bit or 32-bit registers (ranges: -32767 to 32767 for 16-bit; -19999 to 99999 for 32-bit).
- Temperature Meters: Accepts Pt100/RTD probes and thermocouple types J, K, T, E, S, R, N, C, L, and X.
- Process Signal Meters: Measures process signals in mA and Vdc with configurable excitation voltage from +5 Vdc to +20 Vdc (max. 35 mA).
- Chronometer/Time Counter: Features up/down counting, preset value configuration, and multiple reading time formats.
- Impulse Counter/Ratemeter: Supports impulse counter modes, ratemeter modes, periodometer functions, and various sensor types including NPN, PNP, push-pull, Namur, inductive, pick-up, mechanical, TTL, and CMOS signals.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LDB Series features a sturdy metal housing with an IP65 enclosure rating. Electrical connections utilize plug-in screw clamp terminals; process signal models include output through cable glands. The series is prepared for panel, wall, and hanging mount installations.
Power supply options are available in two configurations:
- -H Power Code: 85-265 Vac and 120-370 Vdc
- -L Power Code: 11-36 Vdc isolated
Display formats are offered in two digit heights: 60 mm or 100 mm. The series supports configurable alarm functions with setpoints, independent activation/deactivation delays, and hysteresis (configurable for alarms in 'Process slave' mode). Additional operational features include memory of maximum/minimum readings, password protection, five brightness levels, and an optional remote keypad.
Physical Dimensions by Format
The series offers four primary format codes with the following overall dimensions (Size A x Size B) and panel cut-outs:
- LDB-24 (60 mm, 4 digits): Overall: 340 mm x 135 mm; Cut-out: 322 mm (±1) x 117 mm (±1)
- LDB-26 (60 mm, 6 digits): Overall: 436 mm x 135 mm; Cut-out: 418 mm (±1) x 117 mm (±1)
- LDB-44 (100 mm, 4 digits): Overall: 542 mm x 166 mm; Cut-out: 524 mm (±1) x 148 mm (±1)
- LDB-46 (100 mm, 6 digits): Overall: 740 mm x 166 mm; Cut-out: 722 mm (±1) x 148 mm (±1)
Configuration Options
The LDB Series is highly configurable through a modular model number structure. The general format follows LDB-------. Note that Option 3 is available only with formats LDB-26 and LDB-46.

The series supports up to three configurable options per model. Available codes include:
- -R1: 1 relay
- -AO: Analog output (isolated)
- -RTU: Modbus RTU communication
- -S4: RS-485 ASCII communication
- -S2: RS-232 communication
- -T1: 1 transistor output
- -SSR: 1 control SSR relay
- -0: Empty (no option)
Note: Relay outputs are available in configurations of 1, 2, or 3 relays depending on the number of '-R1' options selected.

Key Product Differences
The LDB Series is differentiated by the specific measurement function embedded in the model code. While all models share the same physical housing options (IP65 metal enclosure), digit heights, and mounting styles, their internal processing capabilities vary significantly.
- Communication Protocols: Models with '-485' are designed for RS485 ASCII protocol control; models with '-RTU' utilize Modbus RTU. Both support additional communication options via the modular option slots (e.g., adding -S2 or -AO).
- Sensor Inputs: Temperature models ('-T') accept specific thermocouple types and Pt100/RTD probes with cold junction compensation. Process signal models ('-P') handle mA/Vdc inputs with configurable excitation voltage (+5 Vdc to +20 Vdc). Impulse counter models ('-C1') support a wide range of sensor interfaces including NPN, PNP, and TTL.
- Display Logic: Chronometer models ('-CR') provide time-based counting functions (hours, minutes, seconds), whereas standard process or communication meters display numerical values derived from analog inputs or register data.

Hello, I can't find the user manual for the large display measurement type - Process Current/Voltage, the M5678 user manual contains a description of only models with digital inputs. Is signal scaling possible for a display with analog input? Thanks.

I am using a process meter to display the distance of a laser. I am thinking there is some scaling somewhere I cannot find so can someone show me which conif. settings to use? Thanks.
