Supported Applications
The OMEGA iServer 2 Series is a virtual chart recorder and webserver for monitoring temperature in industrial applications. The DTC configuration, iServer 2 - Deluxe Thermocouple, accepts up to 2 thermocouples and presents live readings through an intuitive built-in web server with live charting, backed by internal data storage of up to 11 GB and a USB interface for local configuration and data extraction. It is compatible with the Omega Link Cloud for remote visualization.
The wall-mountable unit is built in a Stainless Steel housing and connects over Ethernet, exposing its data through standard protocols including TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, HTTP and Telnet. It is designed to run on a secure local-area network using a private address, and OMEGA cautions against exposing it to public Internet traffic through port forwarding. It should not be operated in flammable or explosive environments.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The DTC reads thermocouples over wide, type-dependent ranges: a Type J spans -200 to 760°C (-328 to 1400°F) and a Type K spans -160 to 1372°C (-256 to 2502°F), with an accuracy of 0.5°C (0.9°F) or 1.0°C (1.8°F) depending on type and a display resolution selectable to 0.1°. Accurate readings depend on proper cold-junction compensation for the given thermocouple wire type.
Power can be supplied at 9 to 12 V DC, from Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af, 44 V to 49 V), or from a 9 V backup battery; a fully charged 9-volt battery keeps the unit logging up to 10,000 data points for a period of 96 hours. The onboard digital I/O accepts 5 V (TTL) inputs, the digital output supports up to 0.5 amps at 60 V DC, and the relays support a load of up to 1 amp at 30 V DC.
The unit operates over 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F) and stores at -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). It measures 101.6 mm long by 155.6 mm wide by 330 mm high and weighs 655 g (1.44 lbs.). Logging duration scales with sample rate: at two active sensors, a 1 second (max) rate records for 4 years, a 5 seconds rate for 24 years, and a 10 seconds rate for 40 years. Approvals include CE, UKCA and FCC.
Configuration Options
Within the wider iServer 2 family, the DTC is the thermocouple-input configuration. Where the Smart Probe models (iS2-THB-B, iS2-THB-ST and iS2-THB-DP) connect M12 Omega Link Smart Probes, the iS2-THB-DTC instead provides 2x Thermocouple ports together with a 4.3" LCD, a USB port, Digital I/O and Relays, and Power over Ethernet.
This gives the DTC the full "Deluxe" feature set: a front-panel color display, relay and digital I/O control channels, and network power, all tuned for direct thermocouple measurement rather than smart-probe sensing. Both DTC catalog models share these capabilities and differ only in whether a factory calibration certificate is included.
Key Product Differences
Ordering for this series centers on the iS2-THB-DTC base with an optional calibration certificate:
- IS2-THB-DTC: iServer 2 - Deluxe Thermocouple virtual chart recorder and webserver with 2x thermocouple ports, 4.3" LCD, USB port, Digital I/O and Relays, and Power over Ethernet.
- IS2-THB-DTC-CAL-3: the same Deluxe Thermocouple unit supplied with the -CAL-3 calibration certificate option.
Both models are identical in hardware and network capability; the CAL-3 variant simply adds documented calibration, so the selection depends on whether certified calibration is required at delivery.
