Supported Applications
The Omega EchoPro LR16 is an intrinsically safe, two-wire pulse radar level transmitter designed for continuous liquid level measurement. It operates by emitting a microwave pulse and measuring the time of flight to provide a proportional output signal.
Documented applications include:
- Petroleum storage
- Water processing
- Wastewater management
- Diluted chemical storage or process conditions
- Bulk storage and tanker trucks
- Reverse osmosis (RO) storage tanks
- Process tanks, waste sumps, and neutralization tanks
The sensor is suitable for challenging environments involving low or non-corrosive media, light surface foam, agitation, higher temperatures or pressures, condensation, or vapor. It functions in above-grade or below-grade tank installations.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LR16 series operates at a frequency of 26 GHz with a measurement range from 12" to 98.4' (30cm to 30m). The system includes a dead band of 12" (30cm) and maintains an accuracy of ± 3mm.
Performance is defined by the following environmental limits:
- Ambient Temperature: F: -40° to 176°, C: -40° to 80°
- Process Temperature: F: -76° to 302°, C: -60° to 150°
- Storage Temperature: F: -40° to 176°, C: -40° to 80°
- Pressure Rating: -14.5 to 150 psi (-1 to 10 bar)
The unit features an IP67 enclosure rating and includes automatic temperature compensation.
Variations in Beam Angle
- -20 (2" horn): 18° beam angle, dimensions X: 2" (48mm), Y: 5.51" (140mm)
- -30 (3" horn): 12° beam angle, dimensions X: 3" (78mm), Y: 8.94" (227mm)
- -40 (4" horn): 8° beam angle, dimensions X: 4" (98mm), Y: 11.34" (288mm)
Configuration Options
The LR16 series is configurable across antenna sizes, output signals, and mounting options to accommodate specific installation requirements.

- FCC, CE, CRN, RoHS compliant
Key Product Differences
The primary variation within the LR16 series is defined by antenna size and beam angle. The 2" horn (-20 code) provides an 18° beam angle suitable for general applications. For tighter focusing, the 3" horn (-30 code) offers a 12° beam angle, while the 4" horn (-40 code) delivers an 8° beam angle.
Mounting flexibility is achieved through optional accessories rather than integral housing changes. The standard unit features a 1-1/2" NPT process connection; however, ANSI flanges (3", 4", or 6") and reducer bushings are available as separate orderable items to adapt the sensor for different tank nozzles.
Output configuration allows selection between direct level indication (4-20 mA) or inverted output (20-4 mA). The integral display module provides local visualization of feet, meters, percent of span, and echo signal curves without requiring an external communicator.
