Supported Applications
The Omega FTH Inline Liquid Flow Through Heater series is designed to regulate liquid temperature in circulation systems. The heaters are engineered for applications requiring a regulated process fluid range of 32 to 88°C (90 to 190°F). These units utilize a titanium heating element and a 304 Stainless Steel flow-through tube to resist corrosion within the media path.
Per manufacturer warnings, these products are not designed for use in human applications such as spas or hot tubs. The series is intended for industrial circulation loops where fluid flow must be maintained prior to energizing the heater.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FTH series operates within a process temperature range of 32 to 88°C (90 to 190°F). A safety high limit trip point is set at 99°C (210°F) to protect the unit. The enclosure, constructed from ABS plastic, carries a water-resistant rating.
Proper operation requires strict adherence to fluid flow parameters. The heater will fail if energized without proper fluid flow; a minimum of 15 GPM is required. Operational protocols dictate that the pump must be running and fluid flowing before power is applied to the heater, and the unit should remain powered down for one to five minutes after stopping the pump.
Electrical specifications vary by model wattage and voltage selection:
- Voltage Options: 120 V or 240 V
- Phase: Single phase (1 Ø)
- Amp Draw Range: From 8.3 A to 25.0 A depending on the specific wattage and voltage configuration.
Configuration Options
The series is available in six distinct configurations defined by wattage and voltage, following the model number guide FTH--. The documented variants include:
- FTH-1500-120: 1500 W at 120 V (12.5 A)
- FTH-2000-240: 2000 W at 240 V (8.3 A)
- FTH-3000-240: 3000 W at 240 V (12.5 A)
- FTH-4000-240: 4000 W at 240 V (16.7 A)
- FTH-5000-240: 5000 W at 240 V (20.8 A)
- FTH-6000-240: 6000 W at 240 V (25.0 A)
The flow-through tube measures 381 mm (15") in overall length and features process connections of 1½ inch NPT female pipe threads, though the data sheet also references "1 NPT" in one instance; installation notes specify a minimum connecting pipe diameter of ¾ inch.
Electrical Connections
- 120 V Units: Equipped with a standard 15P plug for connection to a standard 120 Volt outlet. Includes a 6 ft SJTW 14/3 power cord.
- 240 V Units: Provided with pig tails (Green = Ground, White = L1 Power, Black = L2 Power). Includes a 6 ft SJTW 12/3 power cord.
Approvals and Standards
The series carries UL recognition and CSA approval. Electrical connections must be performed in accordance with Articles 250 and 680 of the National Electric Code by a qualified electrician, incorporating a ground fault circuit interrupter.
Key Product Differences
Variation within the FTH series is primarily driven by power output (wattage) and supply voltage. The physical dimensions remain consistent across models at 7.9" x 5.7" x 3.5" (201 x 145 x 89 mm). Wetted materials are standardized as a titanium element within a 304 Stainless Steel flow-through tube.
Installation orientation varies based on piping size relative to the heater's connection: when using piping smaller than 1½ inch, the heater must be mounted in a vertical orientation with fluid entering at the bottom and exiting out the top. For standard installations, the water outlet should be elevated a minimum of 3 inches above the water inlet.

Great Customer Service
Great customer service. I received prompt responses and status updates along the way of the build. Very pleased. I will update this review once we put the actual product into testing/production.

Does the 120V AC version still require the 15GPM or is that just for the 240V AC
All these Heaters need the 15 GPM flow rate regardless of supply Voltage to prevent damage to the heating elements.
