Supported Applications

The Omega MTO-LT Series consists of pipe insert heaters designed for insertion into 2" (5 cm) or larger pipes. These immersion heaters are engineered to avoid 'coking' or charring asphalt and other heat-sensitive materials during the heating process.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The MTO-LT series operates on a power range of 14 to 13 kW (as documented in the product overview) with specific model configurations delivering between 4 kW and 13 kW. The heaters are powered by 240V or 480V, 1 Phase supplies. Key performance parameters include:

• Power Density: Ranges from 11.1 W/in² to 12.9 W/in² depending on the model.
• Sheath Material: Incoloy sheath heating elements are used for wetted parts.
• Process Connection: Designed for insertion into pipes with a minimum internal diameter of 2" (5 cm).

A critical safety constraint is that these units are not intended for use in hazardous areas. Additionally, controls are not included; the heater must be used with an approved temperature control device to assure safe operation.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions and power ratings across multiple models. The overall length (Dimension A) ranges from 127" (322 cm) to 367" (932 cm), with the stem/insertion portion (Dimension B) ranging from 120" (305 cm) to 360" (914 cm). Weights vary from 12 lb (5 kg) for smaller models up to 42 lb (19 kg).

Available configurations include:

• Voltage Options: Models are available in both 240V and 480V versions.
• Power Ratings: Specific models provide 4 kW, 5 kW, 7.5 kW, 11.5 kW, and 13 kW outputs.
• Housing & Connections: Features a moisture/explosion resistant enclosure with a 2 NPT steel screw plug for electrical connection. A diagram indicates a ¼ NPT conduit opening is present on the unit.

The ordering guide follows the format MTO-<MODEL>LT/<VOLTS>, such as MTO-241LT/240 or MTO-251LT/240. Higher kW ratings are available upon consultation with OMEGALUX®.
