Supported Applications

The Omega ICH-Series consists of cartridge heaters constructed with an Incoloy sheath, designed to provide maximum wattage in limited spaces. The series offers uniform heat distribution and good thermal conductivity for fast heating while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance with minimal scaling at high temperatures. Documented applications include packaging, rubber molding, form fill and sealing, platen heating, HVAC compressors, die casting, hot melt adhesives, hot plate measurements, food manufacturing, and extrusion.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The ICH-Series is rated for a maximum sheath temperature of 760°C (1400°F). Standard operating voltages are 120 VAC or 240 VAC. The series supports wattage ranging from 10 to 1200 W, with other wattages available on request. High and low watt densities are offered to suit specific application needs.

Dimensional Envelope

  • Diameter: 0.25 to 1 inch (available in increments including 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, and 1 inch)
  • Length: 1 to 36 inches

Configuration Options

The ICH-Series is configurable across multiple parameters including diameter, length, wattage, termination style, lead wire material and length, and voltage. The standard electrical connection utilizes fiberglass insulated lead wires with a 10-inch standard lead length; longer lengths are available.

Termination Options

The series offers 16 standard termination styles (others offered on request), including:

  • N: Stripped leads
  • B, BL: Ceramic bead insulation or ceramic bead and leads
  • C1B, C2B, C3B: Straight or right-angle armored cable (stainless steel), with options for cement potting and silicone varnish
  • R1A, R2B, W1A, W1B: Right angle leads with copper elbow, cement potting, welded lead end disc, or braided configurations
  • M2A, M2E, M2C: Potted and sealed options using fiberglass wires (externally or internally connected) or high temperature epoxy potting with PFA wires
  • R3: Angled sheath extension (cement potting only)
  • GL: Ground lead sheath
  • W: Straight wire braided leads

Key Product Differences

The ICH-Series model number follows the format: ICH - <Diameter> - <Length> - <Wattage> - <Termination> - <Lead Length> - <Voltage>. For example, ICH-0250-0150-0250-N-10-1 denotes a cartridge heater with 0.250 in diameter, 1.5 in length, 250 Watts, 10-inch lead length (stripped ends), and 120 Volts power.

Variations are defined by the specific combination of sheath diameter codes (e.g., 0250 for 1/4 inch, 1000 for 1 inch) and insertion lengths ranging from 1 to 36 inches. Wattage is selected based on available standard options or requested non-standard values.
