Supported Applications
The Omega ON-910 and ON-970 series are tubular thermistor sensors designed for liquid immersion and pressurized applications. These probes feature a threaded mounting fitting intended for installation in pipes or closed vessels.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The standard configuration supports a measurement range of 0 to 70°C (0 to 165°F) with an interchangeability of ±0.2°C across this span. The maximum working temperature for the primary thermistor elements is 100°C (212°F). Optional high-stability thermistors are available with a maximum working temperature of 75°C (165°F), offering improved interchangeability of ±0.1°C at 0 to 70°C and a storage/working range for best stability from -80 to 75°C (-110 to 165°F). The wetted sheath material is 300 series stainless steel.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable dimensions, resistance values, and termination options to fit specific instrumentation needs. Key selection parameters include:
- Probe Lengths: ON-910 models feature a 4.5" (114 mm) stem length with a ⁵/₃₂" (4 mm) diameter; ON-970 models provide a 5" (127 mm) stem length with a ¼" (3.2 mm) diameter.
- Process Connection: All units include a ¼ NPT threaded fitting for mounting in pipes or vessels.
- Cable Insulation: ON-910 series utilizes PVC insulation, while the ON-970 series uses PFA cable insulation.
- Resistance Values @ 25°C: Standard options include 2252 Ω (44004), 3000 Ω (44005), 5000 Ω (44007), 10,000 Ω (44006), and 30,000 Ω (44008). Optional high-stability elements include codes 44033 through 44032.
- Electrical Termination: Standard delivery features stripped wires. A phone plug connector is available by adding the -PP suffix to the model number.
- Cable Lengths: The standard cable length is 12" (300 mm). Additional lengths are configurable by appending the required length in inches to the end of the model number.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between models lies in stem geometry and cable insulation. The ON-910 series provides a 4.5" (114 mm) insertion length with PVC-insulated leads, whereas the ON-970 series offers a longer 5" (127 mm) insertion length paired with PFA-insulated cables. Both series share the same ¼ NPT process connection and are available across identical resistance value families.
Model numbering follows the format ON-(**)-4400X, where ** denotes '910' or '970', X represents the specific thermistor code, and optional suffixes indicate custom cable length (in inches) or a phone plug connector (-PP). For example, ON-970-44004-36-PP specifies an ON-970 probe with 2252 Ω resistance, a 36" extended lead wire, and a phone plug termination.

Equipment is good. Shipment not so much
The thermistor works very well and is of good quality. It does not make any sense that it is shipped without a data sheet or the tables to convert the resistance readings to temperature. You need to search this website for the tables in order to use it.

wiring is not heavy gauge
The thermister is as shown in pictures. the wiring is very light gauge and there is no good way to provide strain relief past the threaded fitting. extending the tube thru the fitting and over the wiring would allow use of heat shrink or hose strain relief. I have ordered a unit without the fitting and will use compression fitting over the tube instead of the fitting.

Is the interchangeability of these thermistors (ON-970-XXXXX) specified at a particular confidence level (95%, 99%, etc)?
Hi ConnerZ,
Thank you for the inquiry. We do not offer confidence level as a specification on this series unfortunately. The sensor specification page gives expected temperature drift over 10 and 100 month periods.

I just received a shipment of ON-970-44033. Where can I find the Steinhart-Hart coefficients for these probes?
Thank you for your inquiry rphilip. Please review the document from this link which has those coefficients: https://assets.omega.com/spec/44000_THERMIS_ELEMENTS.pdf
