Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series I2-1 Immersion Temperature Probes are designed to monitor hot and chilled water lines throughout a building's water distribution loop. These sensors feature multiple temperature sensor outputs that allow connection to virtually any digital building controller.

A critical operational requirement is the use of a Series IW2 Thermowell on pressurized air and water lines to prevent leakage around the probe. The thermowells enable replacement of the temperature sensors without draining the water line.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within a process temperature range of -32 to 240°F (-35.5 to 115.5°C). Accuracy specifications vary by sensor element type:

• Platinum RTD: ±0.6% @ 32°F (0°C)
• Nickel RTD: ±0.5°F @ 32°F (0°C)
• Balco RTD: ±0.1% @ 32°F (0°C)
• Thermistors: ±0.36°F from 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C)

Configuration Options

The Series I2-1 offers a broad selection of sensor technologies and insertion lengths configured for specific controller interfaces.

Sensor Types & Outputs

Available output signals include RTD and Thermistor elements. Specific model configurations support:

• Pt 100 Ω RTD (e.g., I2-11062, I2-11042)
• PT 1000 Ω RTD
• Ni 1000 Ω RTD
• Balco 1000 Ω RTD
• Thermistors: 3K Ω, 5K Ω, 10K Ω Type 2, 10K Ω Type 3, 20K Ω, 100K Ω, and 2252 Ω

Dimensions & Construction

The probes feature a 1/4" (6.3 mm) diameter with insertion lengths of 4" or 6". Overall length is L = 7.000" for the 6" thermowell and L = 5.000" for the 4" thermowell. The process connection utilizes a 1/2" threaded interface to fit Series IW2 thermowells.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series are distinguished by sensor element type and insertion length. The model number guide follows the format I2-<SENSOR_TYPE>-<INSERTION_LENGTH>. For example, models ending in 62 indicate a 6" insertion length (e.g., I2-15062), while those ending in 42 indicate a 4" insertion length (e.g., I2-15042). The Series IW2 thermowells are available as separate components, such as the IW2-262 for 6" and IW2-242 for 4" applications.
