Supported Applications

The Omega OM-CP-ULTRASHOCK series is a battery-powered, stand-alone data logger designed to measure and record temperature, pressure, humidity, and tri-axial shock. Part of the NOMAD® family, these devices are engineered for documenting dynamic environments in moving vehicles, trucks, containers, and ships. The series supports characterizing environments within production and assembly lines handling delicate electronics, IC fabrication, communications equipment, and computer components.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The OM-CP-ULTRASHOCK operates across an ambient temperature range of -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F) with a humidity rating of 0 to 95% RH non-condensing. The device features solid-state memory capable of storing up to 174,762 readings per channel and supports sampling rates from 64 Hz down to one reading every 5 minutes for shock events.

Performance specifications by measurement type include:

• Temperature: Semiconductor sensor with a range of -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F), resolution of 0.1°C, and accuracy of ±0.5°C (0 to 50°C).
• Humidity: Capacitive Polymer sensor ranging from 0 to 95% RH with a resolution of 0.1% RH and an accuracy of ±3% RH (±2% RH typical at 25°C). Specified accuracy applies within the range of 10 to 40°C; 10 to 80% RH.
• Pressure: Semiconductor strain gage sensor measuring 0 to 30 psia with a resolution of 0.002 psia and calibrated accuracy of ±1.0% FSR at 25°C (±0.2% typical).
• Shock: MEMS Semiconductor accelerometer available in ranges of ±5 g, ±50 g, ±100 g, or ±250 g. Accuracy varies by range: ±0.2 g for the ±5 g range; ±1 g for the ±50 g range; ±2 g for the ±100 g range; and ±4 g for the ±250 g range.

The device supports a sampling rate of 1.953 milliseconds (512 Hz) with an acceleration frequency response from 0 Hz to approximately 400 Hz. Time accuracy is rated at ±1 min per month at 2 to 30°C, and battery life typically ranges from 3 to 7 days using a lithium battery at a 1-minute reading rate.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable shock measurement ranges and optional calibration documentation. The housing is constructed of anodized aluminum with overall dimensions of 89 H x 111 W x 26 mm D (3.5 x 4.4 x 1.0") and a weight of 341 g (12 oz).

Key configuration options include:

• Shock Ranges: Models are available in ±5 g, ±50 g, ±100 g, or ±250 g configurations.
• Calibration Certification: Variants with the "-CERT" suffix include a NIST calibration certificate. Calibration dates are automatically recorded within the device.
• Data Interface: Data retrieval is supported via USB or COM port (interface cable required) at 115,200 baud. The OM-CP-IFC200 interface includes Windows software and a 1.8 m (6') USB cable.
• Software & Validation: Software supports XP SP3/Vista/7 and 8 (32-bit and 64-bit). An optional FDA 21 CFR part 11 compliant IQ/OQ/PQ secure software validation workbook is available as the OM-CP-SVP-SYSTEM.
• Power & Mounting: Powered by a user-replaceable 9V lithium or alkaline battery (included). A magnet mount kit (OM-CP-SHOCK-MAG-KIT) and replacement batteries (OM-CP-BAT103) are offered as accessories.

Data formats include date/time stamps with units selectable for gravities, temperature (°C, °F, K, °R), humidity (%RH, mg/ml water vapor concentration), and pressure (psia, inHg, mm Hg, bar, atm, torr, Pa, kPa, MPa). The device supports immediate start or delay start up to 6 months in advance.
