Supported Applications
The OMEGATHERM® OT-201 Series is a high temperature, thermally conductive silicone grease designed for the permanent and temporary bonding of temperature sensors. It facilitates accurate thermal contact between sensing elements—including thermocouples, thin film RTDs, and thermistors—and various substrate surfaces.
Documented compatible substrates include:
- Metal
- Ceramic
- Glass
- Plastic (PL)
- Paper products (PA)
- Wood (W)
The product is intended for industrial use only and is not designed for human applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
OMEGATHERM® 201 maintains its properties without hardening during prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures. The continuous temperature range of use is -40°F to +392°F (-40°C to 200°C). Storage at 35°F or below can approximately double the shelf life, which is rated for one year under standard conditions.
Key performance characteristics include:
- Thermal Conductivity: 16 (BTU) (in)/(hr) (ft²) (°F); 0.0055 (cal)/(cm) (sec) (cm²) (°C)
- Volume Resistivity: 10¹⁴ ohm-cm
- Dielectric Strength: 500 volts/mil (19.7 kV/mm)
- Specific Gravity: 2.53 g/cc
- Weight Loss: 0.2% at 100°C for 24 hours
- Consistency: Thick, smooth paste (thixotropic)
- Cure Requirement: Not required
The material is off-white in color. Cleaning requires solvents such as Alcohol, MEK, or Xylene.
Configuration Options
The OT-201 Series is available in four container sizes to accommodate different application volumes:
- OT-201-½: One ½ oz. jar
- OT-201-2: One 2 oz. jar
- OT-201-16: One 16 oz. can
- OT-201-32: One 32 oz. can
The product is compounded and packaged for convenient, easy mixing and application.
Key Product Differences
Variation within the OT-201 Series is defined solely by container size (½ oz., 2 oz., 16 oz., or 32 oz.). The material formulation remains consistent across all sizes, providing identical thermal conductivity, electrical insulation properties, and temperature ratings regardless of package volume.
Important Usage Note: OT-201 is not for use in a vacuum environment as it will outgas. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; wash thoroughly after handling.

What is the thermal conductivity of the paste? In the table, you have specified Thermal conductivity 16 kBTU in/(hr ft 2 °F). In the manual pdf, the Thermal conductivity specified there is 16 BTU in/(hr ft 2 °F). Which one is right?
The correct Thermal Conductivity value is 16 BTU in/(HR ft 2 F) for the OT-201.

What is the vapor pressure of Omega201 at 20 degrees celsius?
Hi MariaT,
Thank you for the inquiry. SDS data sheet describes vapor pressure as negligible.

Do you have a thermal paste that can be used inside freeze dryers with temperature as low as -60C?
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not have a paste that can be used at this temperature.

Is this paste available in a smaller box? The 16oz seems to be too much for my application and a lot of it would be wasted. The website says that the paste is available in 1/2 and 2 oz jars. But I did not find a option to select it
Thank you for your inquiry ad09. Unfortunately, the smaller quantities of the OB-201 have been discontinued. The only size we currently offer is the 16 oz.

can you provide viscocity numbers so we can determine if pneumatic syringe application is an option.
Thank you for your inquiry. Unforunately we have no viscosity information for this product.

I see that our container has an expiration date. Can you clarify what properties of the paste change or lessen after the expiration date? (in other words, does it get stiffer, get less conductive, etc?)
Thank you for your inquiry. If material is properly stored, there should be no loss of performance or properties past the expiration date. We do not have any test data to determine if there will be any physical changes, except maybe the material can dry out. Prior to the expiration date the OT-201-1/2 will meet all the published specifications.
