Supported Applications
The Omega HMPW and HFMPW series are high-temperature miniature thermocouple connectors designed for temperature measurement systems. The male connector variants (HFMPW) feature molded-in nickel-zinc ferrite cores specifically engineered for the suppression of electromagnetic interference (EMI). These subminiature write-on connectors facilitate connections between thermocouples and instrumentation, utilizing compensating alloys matched to specific thermocouple types.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series housing is constructed from Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) that is cadmium-free. The electrical connection accepts both stranded and solid wire up to Size 20 AWG. While the product overview highlights high-temperature capability, specific ambient or process temperature limits are not provided in the source data.
Connector dimensions vary by gender:
- HMPW Female Series: Height of 25.4 mm (1.00 in), width of 7.1 mm (0.28 in), depth of 7.9 mm (0.31 in). The wire access hole diameter is 4.93 mm (0.19 in).
- HMPW Male Series: Height of 36.6 mm (1.44 in), width of 7.9 mm (0.31 in), depth of 16.8 mm (0.66 in). The contact diameter is 3.3 mm (0.13 in) with a contact depth of 12.7 mm (0.50 in). Wire access hole dimensions are 4.8 mm (0.19 in) deep and 2.5 mm (0.10 in) in diameter.
Thermocouple Compatibility & Shell Colors
The series supports multiple thermocouple types with corresponding shell colors and compensating alloys as documented:
- Type K (CHROMEGA®-ALOMEGA®): Yellow shell; Compensating Alloys: CHROMEGA (+), ALOMIGA (-).
- Type T (Copper-Constantan): Blue shell; Compensating Alloys: Copper (+), Constantan (-).
- Type J (Iron-Constantan): Black shell; Compensating Alloys: Iron (+), Constantan (-).
- Type E (CHROMEGA-Constantan): Purple shell; Compensating Alloys: CHROMEGA (+), Constantan (-).
- Type R/S (Pt/13%Rh-Pt): Green shell; Compensating Alloys: Copper (+), RNX/SNX (-).
- Type C (W/5%Re-W/26%Re): Red shell; Compensating Alloys: CPX (+), CNX (-).
- Type U (Uncompensated): White shell; Compensating Alloys: Copper (+), Copper (-). Note: Type U connectors are used with Type B thermocouples.
- Type N (OMEGALLOY®): Orange shell; Compensating Alloys: OMEGA-P® (+), OMEGA-N® (-).
Note: Types J, K, T, E, R, S and B are ANSI designations. OMEGALLOY is generically known as Nicrosil-Nisil.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options for gender (Male/Female), thermocouple type calibration, and ferrite core integration.
- Ferrite Core Integration: Male connectors in the HFMPW series include a molded-in nickel-zinc ferrite core. Mating female connectors are supplied without ferrite cores; if required for mating pairs, use PCLM-SMP-FT.
- Included Accessories: Quick Connect Contact Washers and Wire Strain Relief are included free of charge with the connector.
- Labeling Options: An HCP-S write-on window is included. Additional windows are available at additional cost.
The model number guide follows the format: HMPW---. Examples include HFMPW-K-M (Male, Type K with ferrite core) and HMPW-K-F (Female, Type K).
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction within the series is between the standard female connectors (HMPW prefix) and the male connectors designed for EMI suppression (HFMPW prefix). The HFMPW models incorporate a ferrite core directly into the housing, whereas HMPW female counterparts do not. Both genders are available in subminiature form factors with write-on capabilities.
Ordering examples from the source include:
- HFMPW-K-M: High temperature subminiature male write-on connector with molded-in ferrite core, Type K calibration.
- HMPW-K-F: High temperature subminiature female write-on connector, Type K calibration (ordered as a separate line item).
- HFMPW-R/S-M: High temperature subminiature male write-on connector with molded ferrite core, Type R/S.

poor customer support since merger
If you require a certificate of conformance, you may wish to look elsewhere. The company will not include this with the shipment and the new system does not work well to retrieve it on your own. There is no direct method of contacting support aside from calling or taking out a ticket, and it takes multiple days for a ticket to be responded to
