Supported Applications
The Omega DP400S is a high-speed indicator and panel meter designed for the acquisition and retransmission of process signals. It features fast transient response capabilities suitable for dynamic measurements involving strain-gauge sensors, including load cells and MelT sensors.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The DP400S operates within an ambient temperature range of 0-40 °C with a humidity rating of 35..95 RH%. The device is housed in Polycarbonate V0 material, providing an enclosure rating of IP54 for the front panel (with gasket) and IP20 for the box and terminals. It weighs approximately 165 g.
Configuration Options
The DP400S series is available in a standard 96 x 48 mm format, configurable for horizontal or vertical mounting. The unit integrates multiple signal processing and communication features:
- Analog Input: Software-configurable for strain-gauge (load cells or MelT sensors) with a maximum of 7.5 mV/V using a 5V power supply, supporting up to max 4 cells 350 Ω in parallel; also configurable for potentiometer input (min. 200 Ω).
- Outputs: Includes 2 Relays with contacts rated at 2A - 250 Vac resistive charge, and an analog output configurable as 0..20mA or 4..20mA.
- Digital Connectivity & Display: Features RS485 communication via Modbus-RTU protocol, a graphic OLED monochromatic yellow display (128 x 64 pixels), and RFID support.
- Power Supply: Accepts an extended range of 24..230 Vac/Vdc ±15% at 50/60 Hz via IN+ / IN- terminals.
The device includes programmable digital inputs and software functions such as totalizer and sum. Visualization options include bar graphs and process trends with programmable sampling time, accessible through an intuitive multilingual interface.
Key Product Differences
The series is represented by the DP400S model, which combines 2 Relays, a configurable mA output, 2 Digital Inputs (D.I.), RS485 connectivity, OLED display, and RFID functionality in a single unit. The device supports both horizontal and vertical mounting configurations within its standard dimensions.

Nice idea, poor execution
Graphing feature works great. Changing alarm values is easy, once you conquer the Italian translated manual. Unit is password protected, but password can't be changed from 12345. The NFC feature is great but can't be password protected. 4-20mA system is a fail. 4-20mA just doesn't work. Omega support is no response, no help.

1) How do you change the default password? 2) Please explain in detail using the USB to configure the meter. The "Italian-English" is not clear and/or doesn't work.
@Van12345 You may not be able to change the default password from 1234. The USB functionality is to use a pre loaded USB stick to enter factory set parameters. If you are using this meter with a load cell and are trying to scale the load cell it would be easier to program the meter using the front panel.

Thank you.

Can I use one unit to test multiple strain gauges? For example, place 5 strain gauges in various locations of interest on equipment, apply and hold load to equipment, then use one device to measure the strain at the various locations.
Dave, you will need 5 separate BCM-1 units to complete your bridge unless you are completing your own bridge. This unit is a single channel device so you will need 5 of these meters for 5 separate points. We have multi channel devices like the INET555 that can do multi channel strain gauge bridge readings

Installation is on a rotating machine with only a wireless RS485 link. Can the peak value be read and reset?
Hello, if you are only using RS485, you cannot reset the peak value using RS485. The manual does not provide instructions to do the same.

What is the sampling rate or the bandwidth of the analog output? Is it affected by other settings in the device?
Info on sampling rate of the analog out is currently not available. Will update when info is available.

Am using 3 strain gauges that has an excitation voltage of 10 VDC nominal. I see that this only produces 5 VDC will it still be able to function correctly? The strain gauge recommended voltage is from 5 to 12 VDC.
Yes. A strain gage gage sensor that has a nominal excitation spec of 10VDC will work OK with this display.
