Supported Applications
The Omega FLSC-45 and FLSC-45B series are high-performance flow signal conditioners designed to convert low-level sinusoidal frequency inputs from paddlewheel sensors and turbine meters into linear scaled analog outputs. These units interface directly with magnetic pickup inputs without requiring external amplification, providing a conditioned output compatible with most flow measuring systems and data acquisition computer boards.
The input circuitry is engineered to condition the low level sinusoidal output while rejecting unwanted noise on the line. A signal threshold adjustment allows users to set input sensitivity above ambient noise levels to eliminate false signals when no flow is present.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Both models in the series deliver an accuracy of ±0.15% FS and a repeatability of ±0.025%. The frequency input range required to achieve full scale (FS) spans 65 to 7600 Hz, with a minimum sine wave input requirement of 20 mV p-p.
Performance is maintained across an operating temperature range of -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F). Storage temperatures are rated from -25 to 70°C (-12 to 158°F). The response time for the series is fixed at 2 s.
Power requirements vary by output configuration and model:
- FLSC-45: Requires 10 to 32 Vdc for a 4 to 20 mA output, or 15 to 32 Vdc for a 1 to 5 Vdc output.
- FLSC-45B: Requires 10 to 24 Vdc for a 4 to 20 mA output, or 15 to 24 Vdc for a 1 to 5 Vdc output.
The maximum loop resistance is calculated as (V supply - 10 V)/0.02 A = Ω.
Configuration Options
The series offers two distinct housing configurations tailored for different installation environments:
- FLSC-45: Features a polypropylene plastic enclosure designed for wall mounting. Dimensions are 61 H x 104 W x 25 mm D (2.4 x 4.1 x 1"). Weight is listed as 96 g (3.3 oz).
- FLSC-45B: Features a rugged, die-cast painted aluminum enclosure with NEMA 4 (IP65) rating. Dimensions are 65 H x 116 W x 32 mm D (2.6 x 4.6 x 1.3"). Weight is listed as 300 g (0.3 oz).
Both models utilize a 3-wire output configuration for either the 4 to 20 mA or 1 to 5 Vdc signal, selectable by field adjustment.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the two series members is the enclosure material and environmental rating. The FLSC-45 provides a cost-effective solution with a plastic housing for general wall mounting applications. The FLSC-45B offers enhanced durability with its die-cast aluminum construction and NEMA 4 (IP65) protection, suitable for more demanding industrial environments.
Both models support the same electrical performance specifications regarding accuracy, repeatability, frequency range, and response time. Compatible accessories include the TX4-100 (30 m shielded cable) and PSR-24L power supply. The series is designed to interface with Omega paddlewheel sensors such as the FP7001A, FP-5300, and FP-5301 models.
