Supported Applications

The Omega LC103B Series consists of high accuracy, compact stainless steel S-beam load cells designed for tension and/or compression loading. The product overview identifies suitability for crane scales, mechanical conversion scales, hopper scales, and other electronic weighing devices.

With Class C3 accuracy class certification under OIML R60 (for capacities greater than 25 lb), the series supports legal metrology applications where verified intervals are required. Each unit is provided with a certificate of conformance and full-scale calibration.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LC103B Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -35 to 65 °C, with storage temperatures ranging from -40 to 70 °C. The compensated temperature range is specified as -10 to 40 °C.

  • Accuracy: Class C3 accuracy class for capacities >25 lb; combined error of ±0.020 %FS.
  • Hysteresis, Linearity, and Repeatability: Each specified at ±0.035 %.
  • Overload Limits: Safe overload is 150 % FS; ultimate overload is 300 % FS.
  • Ingress Protection: IP67 rating (according to EN 60529), providing oil-proof, waterproof, and anti-corrosion protection via adhesive sealing inside the stainless steel element.

The series supports measurement ranges from 25 lb to 20,000 lb and 25 kg to 10,000 kg. Output sensitivity is 3.0±0.008 mV/V for capacities greater than 25 lb, and 2.0±0.006 mV/V for capacities less than 25 lb.

Configuration Options

The LC103B Series is configurable across a wide envelope of capacities, dimensions, and thread connections to accommodate specific installation requirements.

Capacities:

  • Imperial: 25 lb to 20,000 lb
  • Metric: 25 kg to 10,000 kg

Housing and Connections:

  • Material: Stainless steel element.
  • Thread Options (Imperial): Ranges from 1/4-28UNF to 1 1/4-12UNF depending on capacity.
  • Thread Options (Metric): Ranges from M8 to M30 x 2 depending on capacity.
  • Cable: Shielded, 4-conductor cable with a standard length of 6 m and diameter of 5 mm. The shield is not connected to the element; jacket material is PVC.

Electrical Specifications:

  • Excitation Voltage: Recommended 5 dc to 12 dc; maximum 18 dc.
  • Input Resistance: 430 ± 60 Ω
  • Output Resistance: 351 ± 2 Ω
  • Insulation Resistance: ≥ 5000 MΩ (at 50 Vdc)
  • Maximum Load Cell Intervals (nLC): 3000

Key Product Differences

The series includes distinct model families indicated by part number prefixes, corresponding to different capacity units and dimensional configurations:

  • LC103B / LC113B: Imperial capacities (lbf) with dimensions provided in inches/mm. Thread sizes follow UNF standards.
  • LCM103B / LCM113B: Metric capacities (kgf/kg) with thread sizes following metric standards (e.g., M8, M12, M20 x 1.5).

Dimensions vary by capacity range. For example, the overall length (L) ranges from 50.8 mm (2.0 in) for lower capacities up to 112.8 mm (4.4 in) for the 20,000 lb model. Fixation torque requirements are specified per thread size: Imperial threads range from 18 lbf.ft (1/4" UNF) to 1070 lbf.ft (1 1/8" UNF), while Metric threads range from 25 Nm (M8) to 1450 Nm (M30).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Incorrect Part & Extra Costs Due to Website Error Issue with Order: We experienced a significant issue with our order due to an error in the website's part identification system. This error led to the receipt of an incorrect part, which was not only inconvenient but also added unnecessary costs to our project. Cost Impact: The mistake resulted in an additional expense of $300 over our original budget. This overcharge was a direct consequence of the website error, placing an unforeseen financial burden on our project. Incorrect Part Received: Instead of the PigTail part we initially ordered, we received a connector. This mix-up was further complicated when the representative provided us with the wrong part number during our attempt to resolve the issue. Overall Experience: The combination of the website's identification error, the additional costs, and the receipt of the wrong part has been highly disappointing. It has caused delays and financial strain on our project, which could have been avoided with a more accurate and reliable ordering system. Recommendation for Improvement: We urge the supplier to review and improve their website's part identification process to prevent such errors in the future. Clearer communication and more accurate assistance from customer service representatives would also be beneficial.

Is this load cell compatible with a National Instruments chassis? Does this load cell require a special DAC?

Asked by: lnidl
This load has an internal 3mV/V sensitivity full strain gage bridge. NI offers input boards designed to take this type of input. We do not know the exact model number of this input board so you have to check with NI directly

Is there a guide to connecting the LC103B-100 to a Campbell Scientific CR1000x datalogger? It doesn't seem that the excitation voltage in the Campbell software goes above 4 volts for the CR1000x and only 2.5 volts for the CR1000.

Asked by: Jesse07
Greetings Jesse, we do not have access to the wiring or the datasheet for the Campbell unit. Please use this link and check with Campbell for corresponding wiring/load cell compatibility information. https://www.campbellsci.com/cr1000x

Are the threads on the LC103B-100 Load Cell right handed threads on both sides of the load cell? I just want to make sure it isn't like a turn buckle where there is a left handed thread on one side and a right handed thread on the other side.

Asked by: troparry
Thank you for your question, these are right-handed threads.
