Supported Applications

The Omega DFG82 series consists of handheld, analog push-pull scales designed for measuring mechanical force in tension and compression. These Laboratory Grade instruments feature a dial display with peak hold functionality and are intended for general testing applications where high accuracy is required.

• Measuring shafts must be used correctly: do not use the tension shaft to measure compression or the compression shaft to measure tension.
• The series supports mounting on test fixtures using M3 screws, provided insertion depth does not exceed 8 mm.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DFG82 series delivers a specified accuracy of ±0.1% F.S., distinguishing it from the Industrial Grade DFG81 series which offers ±0.3% F.S. The measurement envelope spans 2 lb to 100 lb, 1 kg to 50 kg, and 10 N to 500 N across various model configurations.

• Overload capacity: 165 lbs for all ranges.
• Stroke: 10 mm F.S.

Performance may be affected if the unit is exposed to high humidity, dust, or extreme shock. The gauges are not designed for patient-connected applications and should not have oil or chemical soap applied that causes corrosion or dust adhesion.

The DFG82 series is constructed with a rugged die-cast aluminum housing and features an ergonomic design suitable for handheld use. Each unit includes a tare ring for zeroing and a peak hold switch to capture maximum force values during testing.

Key Product Differences

The DFG81 and DFG82 series share identical physical form factors, measurement ranges, and kit contents but differ in accuracy class. The DFG81 is designated as Industrial Grade with ±0.3% F.S. accuracy, while the DFG82 is Laboratory Grade with ±0.1% F.S. accuracy.

Note that the DFG81 series offers different resolution steps compared to the higher-precision DFG82 models within equivalent capacity ranges (e.g., 0.05 lb vs 0.025 lb for a 5 lb range).
