Supported Applications

The Omega HSTH-44000 Series consists of hermetically sealed, flexible thermistor sensors designed for temperature measurement in wet and corrosive environments. The PFA-jacketed construction provides high resistance to chemicals and oils, making the series suitable for applications requiring easy sterilization, such as food processing.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HSTH-44000 Series operates across a temperature range of -80 to 150°C (-112 to 302°F). The sensor element is hermetically sealed within the first 1" of the probe, with a tip diameter ranging from 2.3 to 2.5 mm (0.090 to 0.100"). This small physical size contributes to fast temperature response.

Performance specifications include an interchangeability accuracy of ±0.1°C @ 0 to 70°C for all standard resistance values listed in the series documentation.

Configuration Options

The series is configurable across three primary thermistor resistances and multiple cable lengths, with options for electrical termination styles.

  • Sensor Resistance: Available in 2252 Ω @ 25°C (code '3'), 5000 Ω @ 25°C (code '4'), or 10,000 Ω @ 25°C (code '1').
  • Cable Construction: Features 26 AWG stranded cable with PFA insulation and jacketing.
  • Cable Lengths: Standard lengths include 1 m (40"), 2 m (80"), and 3 m (120"). Custom lengths greater than 3 m are available by modifying the model number suffix to reflect the desired length in inches.
  • Electrical Connections: Stripped leads are standard. A phone plug connector is an optional configuration, indicated by adding '-PP' to the end of the model number.

The series supports accessory integration with OSTW-U-MF connectors and compatibility with handheld thermometers such as the 450-ATH or DP25-TH Series meters/controllers.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the HSTH-44000 series are distinguished by their resistance value and cable length, encoded directly into the model number format: HSTH-4403X-YY. The 'X' digit denotes the specific thermistor resistance (1 for 10,000 Ω, 3 for 2252 Ω, or 4 for 5000 Ω), while the 'YY' digits indicate cable length in inches. Models ending with '-PP' include the optional phone plug connector.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing! Quality control and customer service needs improvement! I ordered 6 and only got 3 that worked. I sent the 3 bad ones back, and after months of waiting for the sensors that I needed months ago, I finally received 2 good ones and 1 bad one. I will not be using Omega again. Very disappointing!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Precise Temperature Control Fairly accurate, but tip is delicate and you cannot bend it too much otherwise the internal thermistor breaks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Need to improve quality control This sensor is great when you get one that works. I ordered 6 and 3 didn't work. No prob I contacted Omega and they said send it back and we will send you new ones. After months of waiting they sent me 3 replacement sensors. Only two of those 3 sensors actually worked. I will not be using Omega for my futher needs.

Is this a NTC(negative temperature coefficient) thermistor?

Asked by: MDesj
Thank you for your email . The HSTH-44031-120 uses a NTC thermistor which drops in resistance with increase temperature . The Thermistor Resistance vs. Temperature table is found per the attached link https://www.omega.co.uk/temperature/Z/pdf/z256-257.pdf

Is it possible to immerse this in a tube of flowing water (diameter of 15 mm) to monitor the temperature of the water? if you know another kind of thermistor that can do this job, I would be grateful if you could provide me with their link. Thank you

Asked by: Nima1994
Thank you for your inquiry. This can be used to measure water.
