Supported Applications

The RH85 is a portable, easy-to-use digital thermo-hygrometer built for simple one-hand operation while measuring both ambient temperature and relative humidity. Its compact form factor and dual display make it suited to spot checks and walk-around monitoring wherever combined temperature and moisture readings are required.

Beyond direct temperature and humidity readout, the meter includes a MAX/MIN record function and computes wet bulb, dry bulb, and dew point values, extending its usefulness for environmental and comfort assessments. A pocket hook with magnetic hanger allows the instrument to be mounted on ferrous surfaces for hands-free observation. The product is not designed for use in, and should not be used for, human applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The RH85 measures relative humidity across the full 0% to 100% RH range and temperature across -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F). Readings are shown on a 3½ digit LCD, with a dedicated low-battery indicator that appears when the battery voltage drops below the operating level.

Humidity accuracy is ±2.5% @ 25°C (77°F), 10% to 90% RH and ±5% @ 25°C (77°F), 0% to 10% RH, 90% to 100% RH, with a resolution of 0.1% RH and hysteresis of ±1% RH. Temperature accuracy is ±0.5°C, 0 to 45°C and ±1°C, -20 to 0°C, 45 to 60°C (equivalently ±1°F, 32 to 113°F and ±2°F, -4 to 32°F, 113 to 140°F) at a resolution of 0.1°C (0.1°F). The sensor response time is 60 sec for 90% of total range. Stated accuracy holds at 23°C ±5°C (73°F ±9°F), <75% RH.

The meter uses a capacitive humidity sensor together with a thermistor temperature sensor. It runs on 2 "AAA" alkaline batteries with a battery life of 200 hours in typical use. Operating ambient conditions are 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F), @ <75% RH, and storage conditions are -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F), 0 to 80% RH with the battery removed from the meter. The instrument measures 167 H x 48 W x 24 mm D (6.57 x 1.89 x 0.95") and weighs 87 g (3 oz) including batteries.

Configuration Options

The RH85 series centers on a single handheld meter configuration, supported by an optional accessory. The two catalog items differ in role rather than in measurement specification:

• RH85 — the handheld hygrometer itself, integrating the capacitive humidity sensor, thermistor temperature sensor, dual display, MAX/MIN recording, and wet bulb/dry bulb/dew point calculation in one instrument.
• SC-50 — a soft carrying case that protects the meter during transport and storage; it adds no measurement function of its own.

Each RH85 ships complete with an operator's manual, a magnet hanger, and 2 "AAA" batteries, so the base meter is field-ready on arrival while the carrying case remains an optional add-on.
