Supported Applications
The Omega RHXL5SD is a handheld temperature and humidity meter with SD card data logging capability. The product overview identifies the device as designed for duct measurements or harsh environments. It measures temperature using a single K-type thermocouple input and relative humidity via an included remote sensor probe.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The RHXL5SD operates within an ambient temperature range of 0~50°C (32 to 122°F) at less than 80% RH. Measurement capabilities are segmented by input type:
- Remote Temperature Range: -20~60°C (-4~140°F)
- Remote Relative Humidity Range: 0.0~99.9%
- K-Type Thermocouple Range: -200~1370°C (-328~2498°F)
Accuracy specifications vary by sensor and range. For the remote temperature probe, accuracy is ±0.6°C (1.2°F). Remote relative humidity accuracy is specified as ±2.5% (@25°C, <70%), with others at ±5%. K-type thermocouple accuracy is listed as ±(0.3% rdg + 1°C/2°F) for the -50~1370°C range; other ranges are ±(0.1% of rdg ±2°C) @23±5°C, <75% RH condition.
Resolution is 0.1°C/°F and 0.1% for remote temperature and humidity inputs. For K-type thermocouples, resolution is 0.1°C/0.1°F in the -99.9~199.9°C range, with others at 1°C/1°F.
Configuration Options
The RHXL5SD series includes a backlit LCD display and supports data logging to an SD card (8G supplied). Functional features include alarm settings, max/min/avg calculations, relative mode (REL), data hold, T1 (or Air T) selection, and Auto Power Off (APO). The unit is tripod mountable.
Power options consist of a 9V battery or a universal 9V AC/DC adaptor. Electrical connections utilize the left port for K-type sensors and the right Mini Din connector port for the remote temperature probe.
Included Accessories
- Meter unit
- 9V battery
- Universal 9V plug adaptor
- K type bead wire sensor (1 pc)
- Remote sensor probe with 1M cable (diameter: 12 mm, overall length: 180 mm)
- 8G SD Card
- Black carrying case
- Calibration certificate and manual website card
The meter dimensions are 180 x 68.5 x 50 mm.
Key Product Differences
The series is represented by the single model RHXL5SD, which integrates both K-type thermocouple and remote temperature/humidity sensing into one handheld unit with internal data logging to an SD card. No alternative housing styles or output signal configurations are documented for this specific series code.

Nice for our engineering lab.
Works great. easy to use. Came with a calibration certificate although it is not 17025. Be careful not to use AC/DC power and battery at the same time.

Temp/rH Meter
Nice little temp rH meter that was easy and fast to order direct from Omega. Been using Omega meters my entire career (20+ years) and they have always been reliable. Came with everything you need to get up and running. Case, meter, temp/rH probe, type K thermocouple, battery, SD card and wall power adapter. Even included calibration certificate. Owners manual will need to be viewed online at Omega's website.

How often is it recommended to calibrate this unit?
Omega's general recommendation is to do a calibration once a year. If the meter is heavily used or in a critical application the customer can schedule more frequent calibrations.

Is the accuracy of the RH +/- 0.3%
The RH accuracy is +/- 2.5% when the instrument is in a 25C, < 70% RH ambient environment. Outside this ambient environment the RH accuracy is +/- 5%. The Type K Thermocouple input accuracy is +/- 0.3% of reading +1.0 C.

Will I damage the remote temperature probe if I expose it to a temperature of 70 - 75 C?
The remote probes maximum exposure temperature is 60C so if it is exposed above this temperature failure could occur or de-calibration.

AM I reading this right, are both the humidity probe and the TC probe 1 meter long cables, or is that only the TC and not the RH probe? It i shard to see from the photo, the RH probe looks very short. Thanks.
Thank you for your inquiry. Both the Temperature/Relative Humidity Probe and the Thermocouple Probe are 1 meter long.

Hello, Before I purchase this item, I would like to know if this unit can be calibrated by an independent laboratory (someone other than Omega). My company has a laboratory that does periodic calibration of all our measuring equipment.
Hi Gary,
Thank you for the inquiry. This unit does have calibration functions as indicated in the manual. The probe is not replaceable though.
Best regards
OMEGA

Does this interface directly with Excel? How do you download and recall the data from the data logger? Do I require specialized software that I must purchase from you'all?
Thank you for your question.
You do not require any special software for this product as it saves all the data on an SD card as a CSV file. These files can then be opened and red by Microsoft Excel.
